We’re looking for an Environmental Field Technician to join our team in Ontario to support the operation and maintenance of a network of specialized ambient air and meteorological monitors located throughout Lambton County.
You’ll gain valuable field experience operating and maintaining specialized testing instrumentation, understanding and complying with environmental regulations and quality management systems, and develop strong trouble-solving abilities.
The responsibilities will consist of technical/field skills, regulatory and safety awareness and problem-solving communication skills including;
Equipment Handling: Operate, assemble, and calibrate air samplers, gas analyzers, and meteorological sensors.
Maintenance: Repair and troubleshoot equipment sensors, electronic circuits, data loggers, and telemetry networks.
Data Management: Record, analyze, and audit atmospheric data using specialized software and spreadsheets.
Navigation & Fieldwork: Read maps, use GPS for remote site access, and work safely in outdoor weather conditions Compliance: Apply local and national environmental regulations regarding air contaminant limits, we well as maintenance and operation of equipment utilized for regulatory reporting following quality system protocols.
Safety: Follow workplace procedures and maintain training and certifications Problem-Solving: Diagnose equipment failures and inaccurate readings independently in the field.
Communication: Write clear field reports and explain technical results to team members.
Ensure precise sample collection and data recording.

* 2- or 3-year College Diploma tailored for working with specialized environmental testing instruments.
* Ability to travel for field projects.
* Valid Driver’s License.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have:
* Be a health and safety champion and support protected operations at client sites.
* Oversee or perform field tasks under minimal supervision.
* Be mechanically inclined with the ability to complete routine set-up, assembly, installation, maintenance and/or minor troubleshooting or simple repairs of sampling and monitoring equipment, as directed.
* Obtain clear field documentation utilizing inspection sheets, quarterly reports, etc., using electronic data collection and communication platforms (i.e. iPad, MS Notes, Teams, etc.).
* Experience (or training) with sampling air and surface water.
* Experience (or training)
in the operation and maintenance of ambient air monitors.
* A minimum of 2 years' equivalent experience would be preferred but position is open to new graduates having a willingness to work and learn from seasoned professionals.
Ability to work independently in various types of weather conditions and as various types of facilities.
* Computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
* Be physically fit to do fieldwork within various facilities up to 90% of the time, and when required wear a half-face, full-face, and/or supplied-air respirator.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
* Ability to communicate effectively; verbally, in writing, and work collaboratively with internal team members and client/facility stakeholders.
* Ability to follow written procedures with several steps.
