Walk into almost any gift shop in Newfoundland and Labrador and you will see our work: mummers on ornaments, puffins on hoodies, rowhouses on mugs and socks. Every one of those designs starts at one graphics desk in our office on Kenmount Road, and we are hiring the person who will sit at it.
About us
Islandwide Distributors is a locally owned wholesale distributor of Newfoundland and Labrador themed giftware, souvenirs, and apparel, part of the Islandwide Group of Companies. We design our products in house, manufacture them with longtime overseas partners, and sell them to retailers across the province. When you design something here, it does not sit in a folder. It gets made, shipped, and sold.
About the role
This is a hands-on production design role at the center of our product pipeline. Twelve months in, you will have designed artwork for a full seasonal product program, prepared the print files that brought those products to life, worked directly with our manufacturing partners to get them made right, and kept our wholesale catalogue clean and current.
What you'll do
- Design original Newfoundland and Labrador themed artwork for t-shirts, hoodies, ornaments, home decor, and souvenirs, taking each design from concept to production-ready files
- Build print-ready artwork for manufacturing: hangtags, labels, packaging, and box die lines, including bilingual English and French text
- Review supplier proofs and handle artwork revisions by email with our overseas manufacturing partners, catching errors before anything goes to print
- Keep our online wholesale catalogue (B2B Wave) current:
product images, listings, and pricing updates
- Use AI image tools as part of the design process, turning rough generated concepts into clean, professional, print-ready art
What we're looking for
Required:
- Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills
- Working knowledge of print production: file setup, color modes, and preparing artwork a factory can print from
- A sharp eye for detail. In our world, one caught spelling error on a proof can save an entire production run
- Ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Explicit written communication for daily email with suppliers
Nice to have:
- Diploma or certificate in graphic design, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Experience with apparel decoration such as screen printing or DTF
- Experience managing product listings in an e-commerce or wholesale portal
- Familiarity with AI image generation tools
- A real interest in Newfoundland and Labrador culture, since it is the subject of everything we make
Pay and schedule
- Job type: Full time, permanent
- Pay: $20.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on experience
- Hours: 40 per week, Monday to Friday
- Location: In person at 1266 Kenmount Road, Unit 1, Paradise, NL
- Start date: As soon as possible
