Vision Learning Centre is looking for a compassionate, motivated individual who loves helping others succeed to join our team.
As an Adult Learning Coach, you’ll work alongside adult learners as they build the skills and confidence needed to reach their educational, employment, and personal goals. Every day is different. One learner may be preparing for their CAEC, another may be learning to use a computer for the first time, while someone else may need help writing a resume or improving their English. Position Details
- Part-time (24-28 hours per week)
- 4 day work week
- September through June, with the opportunity for annual renewal
- $22.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Coach adult learners in one-on-one and small group settings
- Teach foundational computer skills, including Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, email, internet safety, and basic smartphone use
- Support learners in developing foundational reading, writing, numeracy, and math skills (up to approximately the Grade 9 level)
- Assist learners preparing for the Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC)
- Help learners create resumes, complete job applications, prepare for interviews, and complete online and paper forms
- Learn and assist with English Language Learning (ELL) instruction (training provided)
- Develop individualized learning plans and encourage learners as they work toward their goals
- Welcome learners and visitors while providing excellent customer service
- Complete learner documentation and reporting requirements
- Assist with volunteers, community programs, workshops, and special events
- Perform general reception and administrative duties
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a genuine passion for helping others learn and succeed
- Be patient, encouraging,
and able to build positive relationships with adult learners
- Have excellent computer skills and be comfortable teaching digital literacy
- Be comfortable coaching foundational literacy, writing, numeracy, and math
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Be organized, adaptable, and able to work independently
- Be willing to learn new teaching strategies and assist with English Language Learning instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma (post-secondary education is considered an asset)
- Experience in teaching/education, tutoring, coaching, customer service, or community programming is an asset
- Experience working with adult learners is an asset
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check required upon hire
