Position Title: Quality Control Inspector

Position Summary

The Quality Control (QC) Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming, in-process, and completed components and assemblies to ensure they meet applicable drawings, specifications, customer requirements, and company quality standards. The QC Inspector plays an important role in maintaining product quality, traceability, and accurate inspection records throughout the manufacturing and assembly process.

The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and proficiency with dimensional inspection equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform incoming inspection of machined components, raw materials, and externally processed parts.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of components, assemblies, and finished products.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, specifications, and inspection requirements.
- Verify critical dimensions, tolerances, threads, surface conditions, and other specified product characteristics.
- Use inspection and measuring equipment including:
- Vernier and digital calipers
- Outside and inside micrometers
- Depth micrometers
- Bore gauges
- Height gauges
- Thread plug and ring gauges
- Pin gauges
- Other applicable inspection equipment
- Verify material identification and product traceability against purchase orders, work orders, drawings, and supporting documentation.
- Review Material Test Reports (MTRs), Certificates of Conformance (COCs), heat treatment certificates, and other supplier documentation as required.
- Ensure parts are properly identified and traceability information, including heat numbers and serial numbers where applicable, is maintained.
- Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming products.
- Assist with the preparation and processing of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).




- Communicate quality concerns and inspection results to the Quality Coordinator, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other applicable departments.
- Work with Supply Chain regarding quality issues associated with externally manufactured or processed components.
- Maintain accurate and complete inspection records and quality documentation.
- Ensure inspection and measuring equipment is within its required calibration period prior to use.
- Assist with calibration control and identification of inspection equipment.
- Perform visual inspections for damage, workmanship, coating, plating, phosphate, surface finish, and other product requirements.
- Verify completed products meet applicable requirements before release to assembly, inventory, or shipping.
- Support pressure testing, pull testing, assembly inspection, and final product verification when required.
- Assist with internal audits, corrective actions, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement activities.
- Follow company Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area.
- Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical, machining, manufacturing, or quality-related education is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in quality control, machining, manufacturing, oilfield equipment, or a related industrial setting is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
- Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Understanding of machining processes, threads, fits,



tolerances, and surface finishes is an asset.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is an asset.
- Experience reviewing MTRs, COCs, heat treatment records, and manufacturing documentation is an asset.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.

Quality Responsibilities

The QC Inspector has the authority and responsibility to identify and report products that do not meet specified requirements. Products suspected or confirmed to be non-conforming must be appropriately identified and controlled to prevent unintended use or shipment.

The QC Inspector is expected to maintain independence and integrity when performing inspections and must not approve products that do not meet applicable drawings, specifications, customer requirements, or established company quality standards.
