The Town of Didsbury is currently accepting applications for a term, part-time Child and Youth Programmer with our Mountain View Family Resource Network (MVFRN). Reporting to the MVFRN Program Supervisor, this position provides direct program delivery that focuses on promoting healthy social interactions and well-being for children and youth in Mountain View County. This challenging opportunity is best suited for those who have the skills and energy to connect with children, youth and families, be highly charismatic, and willing to be playful and engaging while creating an inclusive and caring atmosphere. This position requires travel to Cremona, Carstairs, Didsbury, Olds and Sundre. Must have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
PRIMARY DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Deliver Inclusive Child and Youth Programming: Plan and facilitate engaging programs and activities that support the social, emotional, and skill development of children and youth (ages 7–24). Programs are delivered through trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally responsive approaches.
- Build Relationships and Provide Community Connections: Develop positive, supportive relationships with children, youth, families, and community partners while providing current information on community resources, services, and supports.
- Support Community Needs and Program Quality: Identify and respond to the needs of communities and specialized populations, promote positive youth development and protective factors,
participate in quality improvement initiatives, and ensure all services align with Family Resource Network (FRN) Standards of Practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Currently enrolled in, or completed, post-secondary in Human Services, Youth Development, Social Work or related field; equivalent education and experience will be considered
- Experience working with children and youth and community agencies
- Familiar with developmental, emotional and social needs of children and youth, knowledge of parent/child relationships and family dynamics
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Valid Driver’s License and vehicle, and ability to provide Driver’s Abstract
- Clean Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Check and Intervention Record Check
Desired
- Experience in group facilitation.
Hours of Work: Up to 27 hours per week, with some evenings and weekends required.
Term end date March 31, 2028
