As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

This is a front-line nursing position on a busy medical unit. Once trained with the proper experience,



the incumbent must be willing to work on all Medicine units. Shift work is required. Must be able to work within a team environment and effectively contribute to patient/client planning processes. Excellent communication skills, compassionate/caring attitude, and attention to detail are necessary. Must show leadership, decision-making ability, be able to exercise sound clinical judgment and use initiative. The ability to cope and effectively perform in stressful/emergency situation is essential. This position is physically demanding, including (but not limited to) standing, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, carrying, twisting, bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead lifting, mobilization and repetitive movements. Must have the ability to assist with all levels of care for bariatric patients, as well as be able to handle 21-50 pounds frequently. Must possess robust communication skills utilizing a variety of modalities and ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of patients/family, relay patient information to primary health care providers, on and off-site, in a timely manner, in order to facilitate the primary health care provider’s treatment decisions. 2 years of recent acute adult experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Palliative nursing care experience would be an asset. Computer experience is preferred. Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.
