Purpose:
A Fabricator plays a key role in the production process by performing polishing, shaping, quality inspections, and various custom countertop tasks. They are responsible for ensuring each product is clean, free of defects, and accurately finished matching the specifications outlined in the shop drawings. By maintaining a clean and organized workspace, Fabricators help ensure safe and productive production operations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety
- Complete and assist in safety inspections as required.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, policies and procedures.
- Complete forms and tasks as required every shift.
Maintenance and Housekeeping
- Adhere to maintenance schedules and complete forms.
- Adhere to housekeeping schedules and complete forms.
- Know and perform maintenance tasks with precision.
Production Operations
- Maintain the Fabricators' portion of the daily production schedule to ensure workflow continuity.
- Safely and efficiently load/unload trays and transport parts in accordance with established procedures.
- Understand and identify edge profile names, specifications, and dimensions for radii, clips, corners, and returns.
- Verify that parts are accurately sized and properly finished according to shop drawings and quality standards.
- Clean and dry completed parts before loading them onto frames or sending them to the tower.
- Use software to confirm part completion and direct trays to the tower or designated locations.
- Operate the Cougar manually to rip down splashes and adjust parts.
- Perform cuts using the miter saw as required.
- Operate the Fast Back as required.
- Always maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Provide support across production areas as needed.
Qualifications:
Education
- Preferred high school graduate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to read a tape measure, use calipers and understand both metric and imperial systems.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License is preferred
- Fair mechanical aptitude and/or some construction experience.
- Ability to read drawings, schematics and manuals.
- Understand the production process and efficiently use time and resources to aid this process.
Personal Characteristics
- Teamwork and communication skills.
- Have a willingness to learn and improve.
- Self-motivated.
- Physical Stamina and strength, ability to lift 55lbs repeatedly.
Professional Certification
- none
Experience
- None required but production experience is preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Fabricators work a 12-hour shift on a 2-week repeating schedule on day exclusively or work an 8-hour evening shift Monday to Friday.
- Indoor production facility.
- Silica Dust and noise exposure; use of PPE is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 per hour
