Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Farm Manager to support daily operations on our poultry farm in Prince Edward Island. This is a hands on role for someone with experience caring for chickens and turkeys who takes pride in animal welfare, farm upkeep, and working as part of a close knit team.

The role includes both farm work and support at the processing plant when birds are being processed, offering a great mix of responsibilities and variety in the day to day work. The ideal candidate will be dependable, observant, physically capable, and comfortable taking ownership of daily routines while maintaining high standards of care, cleanliness, and safety.

Our farm is a beautiful small scale operation with only four barns and a two person farm team, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys meaningful work in a quieter, more personal environment rather than a large industrial setting.

Responsibilities

- Support and help coordinate daily farm operations involving chickens and turkeys
- Provide daily care for birds, including feeding, watering, monitoring health, and maintaining welfare standards
- Observe bird behaviour and condition closely and report any concerns promptly to the Head of Operations
- Assist with barn checks, cleaning routines, and general farm upkeep
- Operate equipment, tools, and machinery safely and responsibly as needed for daily farm tasks
- Assist with maintenance of barns, equipment, and work areas to help ensure efficient and safe operations
- Support live bird handling and other farm duties related to flock care and movement




- Assist at the processing plant during processing periods and help maintain cleanliness, organization, and workflow
- Follow all biosecurity, food safety, animal care, and workplace safety procedures
- Help maintain inventory of basic farm and barn supplies needed for daily operations
- Work closely with the Head of Operations and contribute to a well run, dependable, team oriented environment

Qualifications and Experience

- Previous experience caring for poultry, specifically chickens and turkeys, is required
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort using farm tools and equipment is an asset
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, standing, walking, and working in barn and plant environments
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with positive judgment
- Strong attention to detail and respect for animal welfare and cleanliness standards
- Positive attitude and willingness to support different parts of the operation as needed
- Strong organizational and communication skills
