Cumulative Effects and Stewardship Analyst

The Tsartlip First Nation is pleased to invite applicants to apply to the permanent, full time Cumulative Effects and Stewardship Analyst.

The Cumulative Effects and Stewardship Analyst supports Tsartlip’s participation in the Saanich Inlet, Collaborative Stewardship Forum and related cumulative effects work. This position involves gathering and reviewing technical information to assess the combined effects of development, marine use, water quality, habitat change, and other pressures on the Inlet's environment and natural resources. The outcomes of this work will inform Tsartlip's decisions, policies, and stewardship actions aimed at reducing future impacts and promoting the long-term well-being of the Saanich Inlet. The Cumulative Effects and Stewardship Analyst reports to the Stewardship Director.

The salary for this position is $64,000 per annum.

Education and Experience

- Diploma, degree, or equivalent experience in environmental science, biology, geography, Indigenous governance, resource management, planning, public administration, political science, or a related field is an asset;
- Experience working with or for First Nations, Indigenous governments, stewardship departments, environmental organizations, or government agencies is an asset;




- Experience reviewing technical reports, environmental assessments, monitoring plans, engagement summaries, or workplans is an asset;
- Knowledge of Saanich Inlet, marine ecosystems, watershed health, water quality, cumulative effects, or environmental assessment processes is an asset;
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable vehicle plus a clean driver’s abstract and appropriate insurance;
- Clean criminal record check required.

Key Responsibilities

- Gather, review, and synthesize ecological, cultural, and project information relevant to Tsartlip's Stewardship Department and the Saanich Inlet;
- Review technical materials to identify risks, data gaps, assumptions, and key implications for Tsartlip;
- Lead Tsartlip's analysis of cumulative effects, including marine values, water quality, habitat change, restoration, and development pressures;
- Prepare briefing notes, technical summaries, reports, presentations, and plain-language materials;
- Review proposed monitoring, assessment, mitigation, and adaptation approaches;
- Use or support appropriate data, mapping, and analytical tools to inform cumulative effects work;
- Track key findings, technical questions, action items, deadlines, and reporting requirements;
- Support project budgeting, expense tracking, and funder reporting as needed;
- Identify opportunities to strengthen Tsartlip’s stewardship, monitoring, data, and decision-making processes;
- Attend department, Forum, technical, and community meetings as required;
- Maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive cultural, community, technical, or financial information.
