Position Overview

- The College is currently seeking a Part-Time French Instructor to teach small-group French language classes on-site at our Burnaby (Metrotown) campus.
- The instructor will deliverengaging and practical French language instruction to adult learners at beginner to intermediate levels.
- This part time teaching position focuses on effective classroom instruction, student engagement, and supporting learners in developing their French language proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver French language instruction to adult learners ranging from A1 to B2 levels.
- Teach core language competencies including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
- Support students’ progress toward French language proficiency goals, including preparation aligned with TEF and TCF objectives.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in accordance with the approved curriculum.
- Assess student progress through quizzes, assignments, and classroom participation.
- Maintain accurate attendance and grading records in a timely manner.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment for students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Qualifications





- Master’s degree in French, Education, Linguistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum two years of French teaching experience, ideally with adult learners.
- Fluency in French and English.
- Strong understanding of communicative language teaching methodologies and adult learning principles.
- Experience teaching international students or immigrant learners is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Professional, reliable, and engaging teaching presence.
- Teaching certification or equivalent professional experience is considered an asset but not mandatory.
- Mandarin-speaking ability is considered an asset.

Schedule

- Part-time, on-site position
- Primarily evening classes on weekdays and daytime classes on weekends
- Morning or weekend availability may be considered an asset
- Expected teaching hours: 6–12 hours per week

Compensation and Benefits

- Hourly rate: $30 – $40 per hour
- Vacation pay provided after completing 30 working days
- Paid time off
