Our marketing team is passionate about bringing our brand and story to life, inspiring gardeners, and celebrating the 60+ year legacy of our third-generation family-owned business. As our Marketing Assistant, you will support our Marketing Manager, helping transform ideas into engaging content, memorable events, and meaningful customer experiences across multiple traditional and digital marketing channels. You will also be on your feet for long periods of time, in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments.

Core Responsibilities:

- Support our Marketing Manager with the planning and execution of day-to-day marketing activities and special projects
- Capture Royal City Nursery’s story through photography and videography, showcasing our plants, products, educational content, events, and landscaping projects
- Create and schedule e-newsletters to inspire, educate, and connect with our customers
- Assist with creating, scheduling and publishing engaging content across our digital platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and, our website
- Maintain and organize the company's digital assets, including website content, photographs, video libraries, spreadsheets and data, and social media resources, ensuring they remain current, relevant, and accurate
- Support the planning, promotion and execution of workshops, events and seasonal campaigns, ensuring a consistently excellent customer experience
- Assist in maintaining website content and supporting our compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) across digital marketing materials
- Help build excitement around our marketing initiatives by engaging with staff and encouraging their participation in content creation
- Contribute to the overall success of Royal City Nursery by demonstrating initiative, creativity, professionalism and a positive, team-first attitude while supporting the Marketing Manager and the wider business

Skills

- Exceptional customer service, time management, planning,



and organizational skills
- Advanced written and verbal English communication skills with strong research skills
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills while handling multiple projects
- Fluent in graphic design, photography and/or videography: experienced with using digital graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
- Competent with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google equivalents
- Solid understanding of social media algorithms (primarily Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube)
- Experience with optimising content for keywords for online searches
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team
- Meticulously detail-oriented: skilled at proofreading, noticing design discrepancies, etc.
- Ability to be adaptive, creative, innovative, efficient, highly motivated and self-starting

Experience:

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing or Communications (or related field)
- Digital marketing experience and/or retail marketing experience: 2 years (required)
- Demonstrated proficiency with increasing engagement & brand awareness on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn
- Solid understanding of traditional & digital marketing tactics including, but not limited to: on-site events, social media, printed marketing materials, websites, and email marketing
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a sense of enthusiasm, positive attitude, professionalism and urgency
- Ability and willingness to learn each aspect of the business as necessary
- Horticulture experience is an asset, but not required
- Exceptional customer service, time management and organizational skills
- Demonstrated strategic thinking and creative problem-solving skills while handling multiple projects
- Fluent in graphic design, photography and/or videography




- Ability to follow and recognize the changing markets/trends as it pertains to Royal City Nursery product lines

- Advanced written and verbal English communication skills with strong research skills to gather market insights and consumer trends

Physical and Working Environment Requirements:

- Able to stand, walk, kneel, for extended periods on a variety of surfaces.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. consistently, perform repeated movements, kneeling, crouching etc.
- Ability to comfortably work on a ladder or step stool.
- Comfortable working in greenhouses, and other seasonal environments.
- Please note: Must be able to work some evening and weekend shifts on a weekly basis
