About the Role

Bornea Dynamics Limited is seeking a Specialized Engineering Technician to support the development, assembly, integration, and testing of advanced engineering systems and prototypes.

This is a highly hands-on, multidisciplinary position suited to someone who is comfortable working across electronics, fibre optics, mechanical assemblies, and general workshop activities. The successful candidate will work closely with Bornea's engineering team to turn designs into functional hardware, support prototype development, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain an organized and capable engineering workshop.

We are looking for someone who enjoys building things, solving practical problems, and working across several technical disciplines rather than performing the same production task every day.

Key Responsibilities

The Specialized Engineering Technician will support engineering and prototype development activities including:

- Soldering, assembly, modification, and rework of electronic components, cables, connectors, PCBs, and wiring harnesses.
- Fibre-optic preparation, termination, splicing, inspection, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Assembly and integration of electrical, electronic, optical, and mechanical systems.
- Construction of prototype systems, test fixtures, cable assemblies, and engineering breadboards.
- Reading and working from engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and work instructions.
- Supporting engineers during prototype integration, testing, debugging, and design iteration.
- Performing electrical continuity checks, basic electrical measurements, and functional testing using standard laboratory equipment.
- Identifying and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, optical, and integration issues.
- Installing and routing cables, connectors, fibre, sensors, electronics, and other system components.
- Performing precision mechanical assembly using standard hand and power tools.
- Operating workshop and material-handling equipment, including forklifts, where required.
- Supporting receiving, movement, organization, and preparation of engineering materials and equipment.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, consumables, and engineering work areas.
- Documenting assembly, modification, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Supporting prototype demonstrations,



field trials, equipment preparation, and deployment activities as required.
- Assisting with other technical and workshop activities associated with the development of new products and systems.

Required Skills and Experience

We are looking for candidates with a strong combination of practical technical skills. Relevant experience may have been gained through electronics, telecommunications, aerospace, defence, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, automotive, robotics, or similar technical environments.

Candidates should have experience in several of the following areas:

- Electronic soldering and rework.
- Cable and wiring harness fabrication.
- Connector assembly, crimping, and termination.
- Fibre-optic cable preparation, termination, or fusion splicing.
- Electrical and electronic troubleshooting.
- Mechanical assembly and prototype fabrication.
- Use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other common electronic test equipment.
- Reading electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Use of hand tools, power tools, and workshop equipment.
- Safe operation of forklifts or other material-handling equipment.
- Assembly and integration of complex technical systems.

Preferred Qualifications

The following would be considered assets:

- College diploma or equivalent training in electronics, electrical engineering technology, electromechanical engineering, telecommunications, aerospace, manufacturing, or a related technical discipline.
- IPC soldering certification or demonstrated experience performing high-quality electronic soldering and rework.
- Experience with surface-mount electronics and fine-pitch soldering.
- Experience with fibre fusion splicing, optical connectors, optical power meters, or OTDR equipment.
- Experience building and testing wiring harnesses.
- Experience working with RF equipment, antennas, sensors, motors, embedded electronics, robotics, or aerospace systems.
- Experience assembling low-volume or prototype hardware rather than exclusively high-volume production.




- Forklift certification.
- Experience working within controlled engineering, quality, or configuration-management processes.

Formal education is valuable but demonstrated hands-on technical capability is particularly important for this position.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is practical, adaptable, and comfortable moving between different types of technical work. On a given day, you may be soldering a cable assembly, splicing fibre, assembling a prototype mechanical system, troubleshooting electronics with an engineer, preparing equipment for a test, or helping move and configure equipment in the workshop.

You should be someone who:

- Takes pride in producing clean, reliable, professional-quality work.
- Can work independently once provided with drawings, requirements, or instructions.
- Is methodical when troubleshooting technical problems.
- Pays close attention to workmanship and detail.
- Is comfortable learning unfamiliar equipment and technical processes.

- Maintains an organized and safe working environment.
- Is willing to take ownership of practical problems and see tasks through to completion.

Compensation

Expected salary range: $60,000–$80,000 CAD per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated technical capability.

Candidates with particularly strong experience in electronics rework, fibre optics, prototype integration, aerospace/defence hardware, or multidisciplinary engineering environments may be considered at a higher level.
