About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Generalist will provide broad HR support across the organization, including HR administration, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, workplace health and safety, and WCB claims management.

This is an in-person position based at the organization's head office in West Edmonton, with quarterly travel required to various locations throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area.

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable and approachable HR professional who can balance day-to-day administrative responsibilities with strategic thinking, employee support, and strong relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

- Respond to day-to-day HR inquiries in a timely, professional, and solution-focused manner
- Develop and maintain job descriptions and job postings
- Screen resumes and conduct candidate pre-screening interviews
- Support recruitment initiatives and provide recommendations on effective hiring practices
- Prepare employment offers, agreements, and related documentation




- Coordinate onboarding activities and ensure all new-hire requirements are completed
- Facilitate HR orientations for new support team employees
- Manage HR processes throughout the employee lifecycle, including employee records, documentation, work authorization, certifications, and compliance requirements
- Support employment changes, leaves, and termination processes while providing HR best-practice guidance
- Develop, maintain, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook content
- Ensure HR practices remain aligned with applicable employment legislation and organizational standards
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees regarding employee relations, performance management, disciplinary matters, employment legislation, and HR best practices
- Participate in workplace investigations and provide recommendations to management
- Support managers with coaching, progressive discipline, conflict resolution, and performance-related matters
- Assist with employee engagement initiatives, surveys, recognition programs, and culture-building activities
- Support benefits administration, annual compensation reviews, and employee inquiries
- Act as the primary point of contact for WCB claims management
- Coordinate with managers, employees, healthcare providers, and WCB to facilitate effective return-to-work programs
- Monitor active WCB claims and support case management, including modified work arrangements
- Participate in health and safety committee meetings and assist with workplace action plans and compliance initiatives
- Build strong relationships with organizational leaders through regular site visits
- Promote a positive, inclusive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture

Qualifications & Requirements

- 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field
- CPHR designation or progress toward CPHR designation is considered an asset
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Alberta Employment Standards
- Alberta Human Rights legislation
- Occupational Health and Safety requirements
- WCB processes and claims management
- HR best practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Excel, and OneDrive
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence
- Ability to successfully obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check
- Ability and willingness to travel to organizational locations throughout Edmonton and surrounding areas on a quarterly basis
