KW AccessAbility is a community-driven non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adults with physical disabilities in the Waterloo Region. We provide programs, resources, and social connections that empower our members to live active, engaged, and independent lives.

Position Type: Full-Time, 1-Year Contract (40 hours/week, potential for 2nd-year renewal)

Location: Downtown Kitchener, ON (Hybrid up to 20 hours/week work-from-home after probation period)

Schedule: Regular weekday hours (occasional flexibility as needed)

Physical Requirements: Light physical activity involved in purchasing/preparing snacks, assisting disabled members as required, and setting up program spaces.

Benefits: 2 weeks paid vacation over the Christmas holiday period

Position Overview

We are seeking an energetic, organized, and community-minded Program Coordinator to lead several exciting new initiatives and support our existing social and recreational programming.

In this role, you will launch our new Health & Wellness Program, operationalize a newly donated mobility bus, support assistive technology integration, and build meaningful outreach pipelines across the region. The ideal candidate is outgoing, thrives on multitasking, building relationships, and managing project logistics in a community-first non-profit environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Health & Wellness Program Coordination

- Plan, launch, and coordinate a new weekly Health & Wellness program focusing on healthy eating, cooking, adaptive fitness, and mental health for adults with disabilities.
- Outreach to, schedule, and coordinate regional health specialists and guest facilitators to lead the weekly sessions.
- Promote sessions to KWA members, manage registrations, and track attendance.
- Source, purchase,



and prepare healthy snacks for program participants within an allocated budget.

2. Community Outreach & Member Engagement

- Connect with inactive KWA members to re-engage them with current offerings.
- Lead proactive outreach initiatives to prospective members across Waterloo Region, prioritizing underrepresented equity-deserving groups, including LGBTQ+, Indigenous, and Newcomer communities.

3. Assistive Technology & Device Support

- Coordinate the intake, management, and orientation of donated assistive technologies (e.g., AI-assisted smart glasses).
- Support and train members on using assistive devices to enhance their everyday independence.

4. Mobility Bus Operationalization & Logistics

- Coordinate the operational launch and ongoing management of a newly donated mobility bus (managing parking, insurance, maintenance/repairs, licensing, and scheduling part-time drivers).
- Design pickup routes and schedule logistics for community outings and events.

5. General Program & Social Support

- Assist KWA staff in coordinating and running existing social, educational, and recreational member programming (e.g. Wii bowling, Games Days, Arts & Crafts, Movies, Coffee socials, etc.).

6. Marketing & Social Media Communications

- Oversee KWA’s social media channels to increase community visibility, showcase member activities, and build local awareness.

7. Administrative & Financial Tracking

- Track program expenses, event logistics,



and member participation metrics to assist with audit preparation, grant reporting, and organizational evaluation.

Qualifications Required:

- Education: Minimum of a College Diploma in Project Management, Business Administration, Social Services, Recreation & Leisure, Health Promotion, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in program or project coordination, along with some customer service experience.
- Screening: A clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) prior to start date.

Skills Required:

- Robust administrative, organizational, and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and basic budget/expense tracking.
- Self-motivated with empathetic communication skills and comfortable working directly with adults with physical disabilities.

Assets:

- Lived experience with a disability and/or membership in an equity-deserving group (LGBTQ+, Indigenous, Newcomer) is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in non-profit operations, community outreach, or volunteer coordination.
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
