POSITION: OLDER ADULT PROGRAM CO-ORDINATOR

PURPOSE: To plan, co-ordinator, implement, deliver, promote and evaluate the Centre’s older adult (50+) programs.

REPORTS TO: Program Manager

EDUCATION: Post-secondary education in gerontology, recreation, social work and/or a related field; experience in program planning, service delivery, and program co-ordination; knowledge of newcomer supports/resources for older adults.

excellent communication skills, oral and written; sound knowledge of MS Office computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).

SALARY: CUPE Local 2998, Wage Grade 9, Step 1 Salary Range $29.36 - $34.00

HOURS: Monday – Thursday, 4:30pm – 9:30 p.m. Evenings and some weekends as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Plan, co-ordinate and deliver a broad range of creative and stimulating program activities for older adults (aged 50+);

- Prepare monthly calendar of activities and events;

- Provide a safe, attractive and welcoming environment that encourages social interaction;

- Facilitate the involvement of program participants in the development of program activities;

- Promote programs, activities and special events within the YECC membership and the wider community;





- Develop and maintain older adult population resources; maintain awareness of trends and research relating to the older adult demographic;

- Provide direction and evaluation of student placements, volunteers, instructors, project staff and summer program assistants;

- Provide support/resources to newcomer older adults;

- Maintain attendance records, collect statistical data, provide program evaluation and reports;

- Maintain program equipment, supplies and program areas; purchase supplies as necessary;

- Develop networks with external groups and organizations;

- Attend relevant training sessions, workshops and conferences, as available and appropriate;

- Participate in YECC fundraising and promotional activities.
