Position Summary
The Deckside Marina, located on the Fraser River adjacent to the Radisson Blu Vancouver Airport Hotel & Marina, is seeking an accomplished Marina Operations Manager to lead the operations, financial performance, and long-term growth of our 150-slip full-service marina.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Marina Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the marina, ensuring operational excellence, exceptional tenant service, regulatory compliance, financial performance, and the stewardship of one of Richmond’s premier waterfront destinations.
This role provides strategic and operational leadership across all aspects of the marina business, including tenant relations, leasing, budgeting, maintenance planning, capital improvements, environmental stewardship, and business development. The Marina Operations Manager will supervise the Dockhand and work collaboratively with the hotel’s leadership team to ensure the marina complements the exceptional standards of the Radisson Blu brand.
The successful candidate will be a proactive leader who combines robust business acumen with outstanding customer service and a passion for waterfront operations.
Primary Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership for all aspects of marina operations.
- Develop and implement annual operating plans aligned with ownership objectives.
- Supervise, mentor, schedule and evaluate the Dockhand.
- Establish operational policies, procedures and service standards.
- Ensure the marina maintains a safe, clean, efficient and welcoming environment.
- Lead seasonal operational planning and emergency preparedness.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability and continuous improvement.
Tenant Experience & Community Relations
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for all marina tenants.
- Build and maintain long-term tenant relationships through exceptional service.
- Resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote a welcoming marina community through proactive communication.
- Coordinate berth assignments and maximize occupancy.
- Develop tenant engagement initiatives that enhance retention and satisfaction.
Financial & Business Management
- Prepare and administer the marina’s annual operating budget.
- Develop long-term capital planning recommendations.
- Monitor financial performance,
operating costs and revenue trends.
- Recommend annual moorage rate adjustments and pricing strategies.
- Negotiate and administer moorage agreements and commercial contracts.
- Identify opportunities to increase occupancy and diversify revenue streams.
- Prepare operational reports, forecasts and recommendations for ownership.
Leasing & Administration
- Oversee all berth licensing, lease agreements and contract renewals.
- Maintain accurate tenant records using DockMaster and digital filing systems.
- Ensure insurance documentation and compliance records remain current.
- Administer invoicing support and coordinate with Accounting.
- Prepare correspondence, notices and marina communications.
- Ensure all administrative practices are accurate, organized and confidential.
Facilities, Maintenance & Capital Projects
- Develop preventative maintenance programs for marina infrastructure.
- Coordinate repairs to docks, utilities, equipment and marina facilities.
- Manage contractors, consultants and service providers.
- Participate in planning and execution of capital improvement projects.
- Ensure marina assets are maintained to a high operational standard.
- Recommend infrastructure investments that improve safety, efficiency and tenant experience.
Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial and municipal regulations.
- Maintain compliance with Transport Canada requirements and environmental standards.
- Oversee marina emergency response planning and safety procedures.
- Conduct routine inspections of docks, utilities and marina infrastructure.
- Ensure insurance requirements and risk management practices are maintained.
- Promote safe boating practices throughout the marina.
Business Development & Strategic Growth
- Develop initiatives that enhance tenant retention and occupancy.
- Support marketing initiatives to attract new long-term tenants.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and service enhancements.
- Participate in long-term strategic planning for marina expansion and redevelopment.
- Strengthen the marina’s reputation as one of Metro Vancouver’s premier waterfront destinations.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in marina management, property management, hospitality operations or facilities management.
- Demonstrated success managing budgets, financial performance and operational planning.
- Experience supervising employees and external contractors.
- Strong understanding of customer service excellence and relationship management.
- Experience negotiating contracts and managing tenant relationships.
- Excellent organizational, leadership and project management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Experience with DockMaster or comparable marina management software is considered an asset.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and digital management systems.
- Valid British Columbia Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
- Pleasure Craft Operator Card is considered an asset.
- Experience managing waterfront infrastructure or commercial marina facilities is considered an asset.

Working Environment
This is a full-time leadership position requiring both office administration and regular outdoor presence throughout the marina. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in all weather conditions, responding to operational issues outside of normal business hours when required, and maintaining a visible presence within the marina community.
