Job Overview

The Tranco Machine Operator is responsible for producing high-quality distributed gap (DG) wound cores using Tranco and winder machines. This role involves machine operation, material handling, inspection, and quality verification to ensure all products meet strict customer and internal specifications. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and experienced in a manufacturing environment.

Timing: Biweekly Continental Rotating shift

What you will do:

- Operate Tranco and winder machines to produce distributed gap (DG) wound cores according to work orders and production targets
- Set up machines, perform changeovers, and adjust equipment independently as required
- Inspect incoming slit steel to ensure it meets job and quality specifications
- Safely load steel coils onto de-coilers and build arbors for winding operations
- Produce cores with consistent quality, ensuring proper tension, evenly distributed gaps, and dimensional accuracy
- Monitor machine performance, identify winding issues, and troubleshoot basic problems; escalate to maintenance when required
- Inspect finished cores using precision measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, tape measures)
- Rework, repair, or rebuild DG cores when necessary to meet quality standards
- Accurately record material usage, labor time, and quality data on work orders and in ERP systems
- Label finished products correctly and prepare cores for the next stage of production
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards




- Follow all safe work procedures, quality plans, and job instructions
- Meet production schedules and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Assist with training new team members and sharing technical knowledge
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Leader or Shift Manager

Qualifications

Education & Experience

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical or vocational training is an asset
- 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred
- Prior experience operating industrial machinery is an asset

Skills & Competencies

- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to read work orders, technical documents, and specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Comfortable using measuring tools and performing basic math
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
- Good communication and organizational skills

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.00-$24.00 per hour
