Civil/Structural Engineer

- Pay Rate: $76.66/hour, depending on experience
- Contract Length: 1 Year
Location: Burnaby, British Columbia

Raise is currently hiring a Civil/Structural Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada

Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable..

Description

The Senior Civil/Structural Engineer in this role, you will act as a fully qualified engineering professional, applying your theoretical and practical expertise to provide comprehensive engineering design, planning, estimating, and quality management services. You will play a key role in supporting secure, high-quality project delivery within budget and on schedule across low to medium complexity projects and operations.

Responsibilities

- Engineering Solutions & Design: Develop safe, effective engineering solutions by exercising initiative and independent judgment. Prepare designs, analyze and resolve technical problems, and interpret engineering specifications.
- Project Support: Assist project and operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and time objectives. Propose plan and cost adjustments, recommend contractor payment approvals, prepare progress reports, and coordinate work schedules.
- Engineering Practice & Standards: Participate in ’s engineering practice by conducting independent studies, interpreting technical information, and making standard design decisions to ensure alignment with corporate engineering standards.
- Field & Construction Services:



Perform periodic on-site construction quality control and monitoring to ensure strict design compliance. Conduct site visits and field inspections as required.
Risk Management & Collaboration: Engage directly with ’s senior engineering team to address complex, difficult, or unusual engineering challenges and support organizational risk management.

Qualifications

- 8+ years of progressive civil and structural engineering experience with a, demonstrated background in concrete and steel design.
- Proven experience leading engineering projects and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to conduct site visits and field inspections, provide construction support, and possess a valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
- Must be based in the Lower Mainland and able to attend the office as required. Must be available for occasional travel within BC, including remote project locations.
- Nice-to-Haves
- Direct hydroelectric infrastructure experience (dams, spillways, powerhouses, penstocks, etc.).
- Seismic analysis and design expertise, along with Finite Element Analysis (LS-DYNA or similar) experience.
- Previous experience acting as an Owner’s Engineer and managing external consultants.
- Post-graduate degree and/or Python/programming experience.
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (University graduate in applied science or engineering)
- P.Eng. with Engineers & Geoscientists BC (EGBC)



or be eligible for immediate registration and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired

Additional Information

- Candidates in this role will be Woking a hybrid schedule with at least 2 days working in the office
- Occasional site visits and travel within BC, including remote project locations
- Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
- Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
