What to Expect
As a Base Build Construction Project Manager, you will play a critical role in new factory buildouts, capacity upgrades, operational maintenance, and system optimization. You will manage general contractors and subcontractors across multiple trades to install new manufacturing lines and collaborate cross-functionally with construction engineering, design, facilities, commissioning, and manufacturing teams as facilities transition into production. You will be responsible for maintaining budgets and schedules, both in the field and office.
What You'll Do
- Oversee and direct all field construction activities for projects valued between $5M–$50M, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
- Manage complex construction activities with long-term planning and strategic oversight
- Coordinate and direct construction craftsmen across multiple trades and manage contractors/subcontractors within assigned scopes
- Complete project startup procedures including projections, budgeting, and job cost entries for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracts
- Prepare major purchase orders with appropriate pricing and scope evaluations
- Review project plans, P&IDs;, single-line diagrams, and loop diagrams to ensure all materials and hardware are accounted for
- Manage projects in accordance with client specifications, procedures, and policies
- Direct all project staff, including Safety, Quality, Construction, Site Services, Engineering, and Contracts Managers
- Serve as the lead coordinator for site communication across departments and locations
- Coordinate internal and external support activities to ensure safe and quality project execution
- Ensure all work remains within approved scope and complies with regulatory and contractual requirements
- Act as the single point of accountability to senior management, clients, and the community
- Take ownership of projects to ensure long-term customer satisfaction, cost savings, and future opportunities
- Evaluate bidding strategies, material buyouts, and negotiation opportunities
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or equivalent experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong reasoning and judgment abilities
- Proficiency or ability to learn Primavera, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Suite, accounting, and estimating software
- Ability to read and interpret contracts, plans, specifications, and requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced workplace and identify project opportunities
- Knowledge of trade terminology, materials, construction methods, codes, NEC, electrical fundamentals, purchasing, and accounting concepts
