Job Title: Market Cook (Pasture-Raised Eggs)

Are you passionate about local food and ready to be the face of our brand? We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and skilled Market Cook to prepare food at our farmer’s market and pop up locations. This role is a perfect fit for a morning person who loves interacting with people and can easily transition from packing a van to flipping an egg.

Role Summary

You will be responsible for cooking food to order at market, preparing components in advance of market, the end-to-end management of our market stall, from loading the vehicle to securing sales and cashing out. Your main objective is to maximize sales through enthusiastic customer engagement and expertly prepared egg sandwiches, ensuring every customer walks away with a smile and a delicious sandwich.

Key Responsibilities

1. Culinary & Food Preparation (60%)

- Cooking: Prepare and sell egg sandwiches, sliders, samples, and other prepared food.
- Setup workspace: Manage cooking equipment and supplies at the market, including setup, operation, cleaning, and troubleshooting minor issues
- Safety: Adhere strictly to all food handling and sanitation guidelines during preparation and service.

2. Direct Sales & Customer Engagement (20%)

- Sales Focus: Actively approach and engage customers, clearly communicating the value and quality of our pasture-raised eggs.
- Brand Ambassador: Become an expert on our farms’ practices, answering customer questions about egg production, animal welfare, and preparation.
- Inventory Management: Track sales in real-time and manage product stock levels throughout the market day to prevent shortages.

3.. Market Operations & Logistics (20%)

- Setup & Breakdown: Accurately load and secure all market equipment (tents, tables, tools, coolers, signage, inventory) into a designated vehicle.
- Stall Management:



Quickly and efficiently set up a visually appealing market stall and execute a fast and clean breakdown at the end of the day.
- Cash Handling: Manage the POS and till, process cash and card payments accurately, and perform end-of-day reconciliation..

Qualifications and Skills

- Skilled Prep and Line Cook: Has worked as part of a line in a commercial kitchen, including maintaining a clean and organized workstation, and cleaning equipment at the end of the day.
- Proven Sales Experience: Must be comfortable and skilled in direct, face-to-face selling and achieving sales targets.
- Reliability & Punctuality: Markets start early! Punctuality is non-negotiable, as is working weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday).
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift and carry heavy cartons (up to 50 lbs) and stand for 6-8 hours, regardless of weather conditions (rain or shine).
- Detail-Oriented: Excellent accuracy in cash management, inventory tracking, and food preparation.
- Food Handler’s Certificate: Valid food handler’s certificate or willingness to obtain one..
- Bonus Skills: Previous experience in front of house, retail, or farmers markets is a plus!

About Us

Many Roads Purveyors are egg dealers providing a service to farmers by facilitating the supply chain. We buy eggs from farmers, take them to be graded, and sell them at markets. Our farmers have fewer than 100 laying hens, which is the limit without expensive quotas. Consequently, we work with multiple farmers and sell their eggs together under a single brand.
