DEPARTMENT: Bakery Production Assistant

POSITION: Full Time

LOCATION: The Village Kitchen (Scarborough, Ontario)

TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Supervisor, Bakery Department

Scope

The Baker Assistant works in our stores production facility located at 111 Finchdene Square in Scarborough, Ontario. This baker is responsible for assisting in the production of high-quality, made-from-scratch baked goods in a precise and efficient manner.

You pride yourself on your attention to detail and ability to thrive in a high-volume bakery. Your work ethic, organization, time management, and communication skills combined with your passion for baking makes you the perfect candidate for this position.

Role Requirements

- Recent graduate of a certified baking program at an accredited college
- Flexible and available to work early morning day shift. and weekends when required (extended hours, holidays on rare occasions)
- Must be able to endure medium/high levels of physical exertion (standing, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, freezer work, etc.)
- Equipment operation (weigh scales, sheeter, dough depositor, mixers, ovens, knives, stove, proofer, rolling bakers racks)
- Successful communication with supervisors, co-workers, and customers (in-person & telephone orders)
- Observes company code of conduct, policies, and store rules
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed

Key Responsibilities

- Accurately produce all baked goods according to our standard recipes
- Educated in production of batters, doughs, laminated doughs, pastry, confectionary products.
- Educated in the baking of cookies, pastries, pies, sponge cakes, granola, spiced nuts, etc.
- End of day cleaning responsibilities

Working Conditions

- Inside, freezer work on occasion

- Stamina: often stand for long periods of time, ability to operate ovens for extended periods of time, and are required to lift medium to heavy objects
