Role: N’Kwala is a First Nation operated independent school offering a kindergarten to grade 12 program. Currently we have an enrolment of 17 making class sizes very small, and allowing for more one-on-one time for teacher and students. N’Kwala is surrounded by rolling hills and the natural environment and is located in the beautiful Nicola Valley approximately 90 km south of Kamloops and approximately 50 km east of Merritt. On-site accommodations and daycare are available for the successful candidate. The high school teaching position currently oversees a grade 8-9 classroom of approximately 5 students, as well as an online program for students in 10-12 of approximately 2 students.

Key Responsibilities:

- Qualified and experienced to teach High School level students
- Special Education training an asset
- Ability to adapt or modify programs to meet the student’s special needs
- Knowledge of the BC curriculum
- Valid BC teaching certificate
- A solid understanding of being able to work well with students and staff from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Participate and completion of on the job and official Lands Management Certification

Qualifications/Experience:

- Experience working in First Nations community




- Experience with the Read Well and Jump Math programs
- Experience with special education programs
- Experience with On-line learning portals
- Experience with multi-grade classroom

Knowledge/skills/abilities

- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail to achieve desired results.
- Excellent research capabilities.
- Diplomacy, tact, and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of students, parents, staff and extrenal people and information.
- Possess strong computer skills using MS Office software and specialized software.
- Reliability and dependability. Self-motivated and an ability to work independently.
- Good interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a team orientated setting.
- Good judgement and problem-solving skills must be exercise at all times.

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Pay: From $75,170.00 per year
