Key Accountabilities
- Project Leadership: Oversee the engineering and project management of engineering projects within the power utility and oil and gas industries. Effectively set up and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Client Interfacing: Act as the primary contact for clients throughout project execution. Report progress in a timely and effective manner, coordinate project interfaces, and obtain approvals for all scope and schedule changes.
- Stakeholder Management: Manage and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders regarding project scope, objectives, accountabilities, and commitments.
- Schedule & Team Coordination: Develop and manage project schedules. Interface seamlessly with internal teams—including engineering, document control, procurement, safety, and project coordination—to successfully deliver project milestones.
- Business Development: Develop bid proposals in response to client RFQs.
- Financial & Administrative Reporting: Develop and submit accurate project invoices. Effectively report project status, finances,
and schedule metrics to senior management.
- Compliance: Manage and maintain the company's status on industry prequalification platforms (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta, ComplyWorks).
Qualifications
Required:
- University Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a project management, or engineering role within the transmission, utility, or relevant EPC industry.
- Proven experience executing the responsibilities and accountability listed above.
- Experience leading multi-discipline teams.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and a strong team-player mindset.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with team members and clients, promoting positive outcomes.
- Capability to manage multiple competing priorities.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.
Assets:
- Experience working with substation engineering or construction.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or equivalent.
