Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, as HR Generalist, through a respectful, constructive and energetic style, guided by the business objectives of the Company, will provide the support and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper Human Resource controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operational efficiency.

As the HR Generalist, this individual has responsibility in the areas of employee and labour relations, diversity, health and safety, worker’s compensation, training & development and policy program implementation and management among other human resource activities. The position involves developing and fostering relationships with senior management, operational managers, salaried and hourly employees as well as external agencies and suppliers.

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Strategy & Vision (Corporate & Field)

- Partner with managers and leaders toidentify,establish, and execute HR strategies and initiatives;establishtrusted relationships with employees and managers.
- Support business goals, strengthen organizational effectiveness, impact performance, retention, employee engagement, and promote the development of employees and managers.
- Actively engage with all levels of employees to create and sustain a solid relationship network,maintaina reliable pulse on organization dynamics and behaviors that affect employee engagement and business goals.
- Proactively recommend actions to management where concerns mayarise,or patterns of employee issues couldemerge.
- Partner with Divisions in the planning and execution of initiatives;leveragethe subject matterexpertiseof leaders toidentifyareas of opportunity within the business.
- Plan and execute projects with on-time delivery, measurableoutcomesand impact;participatein project communication/change management
- Drive HR events such as annual review, compensation, and policy related implementations.

Health & Safety

Corporate:

- Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee as a certified member and lead workplace inspections for the office.
- Provideday-to-day guidance and support to the manager and employeesregardinghealth and safety practices, and policy interpretation.
- Coordinate disability claims (short-term/long-term).

Field:

- Provide support to project sites related to H&S; inquiries and documentation requests.
- Prepare H&S; documentation and programs for new projects.
- Assistin the development, implementation and delivery of Health & Safety program and policy training and monitor compliance, including the Learning Management System.
- Coordinate and track Health and Safety training and administration for sites.
- Assist with Health and Safety Program review.
- Participate in Safety Association Programs that create value for the Company and fulfill requirements of the programs (i.e.,Safety Groups, COR)
- Assistin monitoring andmaintainingH&S; supplies stock and inventory.

Employee & Labour Relations





- Provide employee relations support including policy implementation,interpretationand enforcement; conduct employee investigations and partner with Employee Relations where needed; swiftly resolve disputes and find solutions to problems.
- Provide general information,supportandassistanceto employees internally and externally over the phone, electronically and in person.
- Communicate to internal stakeholders in Human Resources policies, procedures, laws,standardsand regulations.
- Provide resolutions to employee relation issues (e.g.,employee complaints and harassment allegations)
- Maintain a sustainable relationship with union officials and ensure to the adherence of wages, working hours and other regulations.
- Assistwith the management of union inquiries with the goal of collaborationtoavoid formal grievances being filed.
- Liaise with the IBEW where needed.
- Responsible formaintainingemployee files including updating personal information and processing addendums.

Recruitment

Corporate:

- Assistwith recruitment initiatives for corporate staff
- Responsible for sourcing,selectingand hiring process of candidates
- Any onboarding and offboarding requirements related to field recruitment

Field:

- Assist with recruitment initiatives for field services staff including placing calls to the union hall asrequired.
- Responsible for sourcing, selecting, and hiring process of sponsorship candidates, ensuring all qualification criteria is met.
- Any onboarding and offboarding requirements related to field recruitment.
- Liaising with the Electrical Training Alliance Apprenticeshipregardingapprentices.

HR Policy Maintenance

- Assistwith development, implementation and interpretation of HR policies, programs and procedures asrequired; provide recommendations related to policies and procedures.
- Conduct and provide research asrequired.
- Assistmanagement in the enforcement of consistency in application of policies.
- Ensure company policiescomply withfederal and provincial legislation.
- Organize,maintainandassistwith communication of all HR policies and procedures.

General HR

- Participate in Plan administration for the Group Health Benefits and RRSP Programs.
- Provide ad hoc reports to the Manager, Human Resources on all field related data (site safety, training, claim’s management, etc.)
- Communicate to internal stakeholders in Human Resources policies, procedures, laws,standardsand regulations.
- Recommend,developandmaintainhuman resource data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
- Allother duties as assignedtomeet Company objectives

Skills and Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources field.



CHRP designation (or in progress) is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive hands-on working experience in an HR role.
- Experience in the Construction Industry preferred.
- Knowledge of Jonas, ADP Workforce Now, and/orSiteDocsconsidered an asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge/understanding of Employment Standards Act, Canada Labour Code and the Canadian Human Rights Act.
- Strong skills in employment relations; knowledge and/or experience with health and safety is preferred.
- Detail oriented and able to handle confidential information of the highest level.
- Superior customer service skills in a qualified, courteous,friendlyand polished manner.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management, planning, decision making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
- Strongproficiencywith Microsoft Office Software;previousdatabase experience preferred.
- Self-starter, who is highly motivated, has a strong customer focus and proven ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to provide beneficial recommendations to solve HR related issues related to regulations,lawsand policies.
- Provide resolutions to employee relation issues (e.g.,employee &labourrelations; matters and allegations)
- Demonstrated knowledge of change management.
- Ability to develop and implement strategies.
- Strong and effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Presentation skillsrequired.
