Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Summary: Reporting to the Sr. Food Safety and Quality Assurance Specialist and Dir. FSQA, the QA Technician monitors and inspects Belmont Meat Products Limited food products, raw materials, equipment, and production facilities to ensure compliance with the plant’s regulatory and customer expectations.
Key Accountabilities
- Understand QA documents such as HACCP plans, pre-requisite programs, SOPs and complete corresponding records to ensure that records are completed accurately, and procedures are followed. These include the CFIA and GFSI (SQF)
- Accountable for ingredient and packaging meeting specification prior to production
- Responsible for food safety within the facility.
- Perform QA checks like pre-operational checks, GMP monitoring and conformity of finished products through the manufacturing process.
- Conduct environmental swabbing, collecting samples for microbiological testing, air & water sampling to ensure compliance. Maintain & verify records and investigate out of spec results.
- Understand, operate and verify equipment – metal detectors, scales, thermometers, etc. in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Participate in internal audits. Conduct quality and sensory audits on finished products. Provide timely feedback to the Sr.
FSQA Specialist and Director FSQA and Plant Management on food safety and quality issues, providing any root cause issues and recommend corrective actions and where applicable preventive measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Will be required to do overtime on weekends at times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in food science, microbiology or related discipline
- 1 to 3 years QA experience in food manufacturing is a must – meat experience is preferred.
- Proven organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks and follow-up
- Ability to identify potential issues and resolve problems.
- High degree of emotional maturity and integrity.
- Work well in a team setting.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $40,000.00-$48,000.00 per year
