Position Title: AZ Driver with Mechanic Experience - Sarnia, ON

Position Type: Salaried Full time

Role Overview:

Under the general supervision of the General Manager is to be driving and floating material for DiCocco General Contractors 2015 Inc. Someone with some mechanic experiences is preferred. Additionally, some experience and knowledge of general maintenance and repair of systems and components of various heavy vehicles and construction equipment.

Responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities

· Operate tandem, tri-axle, tri-axel with tag along, dump trailers, float trailers, and other commercial vehicles as assigned.

· Transport aggregates, asphalt, construction materials, and equipment safely and efficiently.

· Perform daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.

· Complete driver logs, inspection reports, and required documentation.

· Secure loads in accordance with applicable regulations.

· Assist with loading and unloading materials when required.

· Maintain clean and professional equipment.

· Communicate effectively with supervisors, and site personnel.

· Follow all Ministry of Transportation regulations, company policies, and health and safety procedures.

Mechanic Experience (Prefered but not required)

· Support construction crews as required. Performing heavy vehicle maintenance to ensure safe operation of heavy trucks and equipment including backhoes, excavators, skid steers etc.

· Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and annual safety inspections as outlined by the Manual

· Completing diagnostic and repairs of broken down heavy vehicles and equipment that the General Manager has assigned.

· Sourcing pricing and getting comparable prices to order parts from suppliers and keeping accurate inventory and documentation.

· Completing in a timely matter the required documents and paperwork for internal and external requirements for heavy vehicle and equipment preventative maintenance programs.

· Performing vehicle repairs,



which include work on motors, mechanical assemblies and electrical or electronic components. The mechanic must be able to complete repairs on pneumatic and hydraulic systems and piping systems. Repairs are also needed to ensure the safety and comfort of the driver.

· Ensure work is performed safely, efficiently within the time allotted and in accordance with legislated standards

· Install and repair specialized vehicle accessories and safety equipment

· Accurately complete forms, reports and input/retrieve information into Management System

· May be required to perform emergency roadside repairs

· Attend training courses as required

· Any and all other responsibilities that may be deemed necessary from time to time

Qualifications & Requirements:

· Valid Ontario AZ Driver's Licence with a clean driver's abstract.

· Minimum 5 years of commercial driving experience (construction experience preferred).

· Experience hauling aggregates, asphalt, heavy equipment, or construction materials is considered an asset.

· Knowledge of Ontario road regulations and MTO requirements.

· Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime during peak construction season.

· Strong commitment to safety and professionalism.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Experience as a heavy duty mechanic and a specialized certification in heavy vehicle mechanics (310T, 310J)

· B620 TC/MC 331, TC/MC 341 experience is an asset

· Must have a secure attitude

· Experience, preferably in Fleet Maintenance environment dealing with a variety of light and heavy vehicles and up to date on automotive electronics

· Experience with diagnostic equipment, ie: scanners, digital meters, tire balancers, brake lathes, and AC filling and testing equipment

· Knowledge of compressed gases and safe handling techniques

· Willingness to comply with policies, procedures and regulations

· Must be able to read, write and understand English

Pay: $29.00-$32.00 per hour
