JOB DESCRIPTION: The function of this position is to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children in care and perform general housekeeping duties.

ONE CONTRACT POSITION AVAILABLE (Potential full time permanent postion in January 2027):

- Quaker Road Child Care Centre, 333 Quaker Road, Welland - 7 hours a day

EDUCATION:

- Current Food Handler Certification
- Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level C

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 1-2 years experience preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks in a child care setting
- Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide
- Excellent organizational skills with good interpersonal skills
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Prepare weekly menus that reflect the Canada Food Guide
- Work with Administration Team for approval of Menus
- Prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks for all classrooms
- Serve meals to each classroom on time, at the appropriate temperature
- Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
- Prepare appropriate amounts of food for each classroom
- Maintain daily production reports
- Make weekly food orders through vendors
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas




- Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates
- Wash and sanitize all dishes
- Clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day
- Light cleaning duties (mopping floors, clean bathrooms and staff room, etc.)
- Remove trash and recyclables daily
- Organize and put away all groceries, food orders, and non-food items
- Turn in all kitchen expense receipts and pre-prepared food item labels to the Administration Team
- Know and follow the mission of Strive Niagara
- Protect the privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, team members, and administration
- Build positive relationships and communicate in a respectful manner with families, children, team members, and the communities in which we serve
