The Heriot Bay Inn is looking for an energetic, reliable Line / Prep Cook to join our kitchen team for the remainder of the summer and into the fall season.

We are a historic waterfront inn on Quadra Island, serving a mix of casual pub fare, elevated dining, and private events. Our kitchen moves between busy pub and dining service, weddings, family reunions, corporate events and other private functions.

This is a great opportunity for a cook who enjoys a fast-paced kitchen, working as part of a team, and cooking a variety of food in a beautiful coastal setting.

The Role

As a Line / Prep Cook, you will work alongside our kitchen team to prepare and execute food service across our Pub, elevated dining service and banquet events.

The position will include a combination of daily food preparation, station work and service, with responsibilities changing depending on the needs of the kitchen and the season.

Responsibilities

- Following recipes, portion standards and food presentation guidelines
- Working efficiently and accurately on assigned stations during busy service
- Cooking menu items to HBI standards
- Assisting with banquet and catering preparation and service
- Maintaining a clean, organized and safe workstation
- Following proper food handling, sanitation and workplace safety procedures
- Communicating effectively with the other kitchen team members
- Assisting with receiving, storage and rotation of food products
- Helping with opening, closing and general kitchen duties
- Supporting other kitchen stations and team members when needed

What We're Looking For

- Some skilled kitchen experience
- Comfortable with both prep work and line service
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment




- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently when required
- A positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
- Ability to maintain composure and attention to detail during busy service
- FoodSafe certification is an asset
- Experience with high-volume or banquet service is an asset

The Details

Season: Summer through fall 2026
Hours: Approximately 35–45 hours per week depending on season and events
Availability: Must be available for a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
