About the Role

Progressive Air Group of Companies repairs and overhauls piston aircraft engines. If you enjoy taking things apart, cleaning and preparing components, organizing parts, and learning how complex machines work, this is an ideal opportunity to launch a career in aircraft engine maintenance.

This is not factory work - it is a technical, hands-on role in an aircraft engine overhaul environment. Working directly with Lycoming and Continental piston aircraft engines, you will learn industry-standard processes and work alongside experienced aviation professionals.

Every component you clean, inspect, process, and organize becomes part of an aircraft engine returning to service. Your attention to detail directly ensures the quality, performance, and safety of engines returning to flight.

What You'll Do

- Engine Teardown & Handling: Assist with aircraft piston engine teardown according to planned work scopes, moving engine modules and components using cranes and approved lifting equipment.
- Specialized Cleaning Processes: Perform manual and machine-assisted cleaning across specialized aviation techniques, including plastic beading, vibratory cleaning, chemical stripping, dry abrasive grit blasting, parts washing, and flushing.
- NDT & Inspection Prep: Prepare cleaned engine components for Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and subsequent stages of repair.
- Chemical & Solution Management: Perform solution concentration checks on cleaning tanks, maintain required chemical levels, and safely replenish shop consumables.
- Equipment Maintenance:



Operate and maintain cleaning shop machinery and equipment to ensure they operate at optimal parameters.
- Shop Audits & Compliance: Conduct shop practice audits to ensure cleaning areas remain organized, compliant, and audit-ready.
- Safety & Quality Standards: Follow assigned work scopes, technical instructions, company safety procedures, and quality standards at all times.

What You Bring

- Education: Grade 12 education required (completion of High School Chemistry is preferred).
- Aptitude: Strong mechanical curiosity and an interest in engines, machinery, or aviation.
- Technical Experience: Previous experience working with chemicals, industrial cleaning processes, or personal protective equipment (PPE) is considered an asset.
- Skills: Demonstrated manual dexterity, high attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and follow technical work instructions.
- Physical Capabilities: Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment, standing for extended periods, and physically able to handle/lift components up to 50 lbs.
- Work Ethic: Proactive, safety-oriented mindset with good communication skills and a solid commitment to quality workmanship.
