We are seeking an experienced and passionate Appliance Service Technician Instructor to deliver high-quality classroom and practical training to adult learners. The successful candidate will possess extensive industry experience in appliance installation, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair, along with a genuine passion for teaching and mentoring future skilled trades professionals.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Training
* Deliver engaging classroom instruction and hands-on laboratory training to adult learners.
* Teach residential appliance installation, diagnostics, maintenance, servicing, and repair techniques.
* Demonstrate proper troubleshooting procedures using industry-standard diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
* Explain electrical theory, refrigeration principles, appliance controls, water systems, and mechanical components using practical, real-world examples.
* Promote safe work practices in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S;) regulations and industry standards.
* Foster a positive, supportive, and professional learning environment.

Curriculum Development
* Prepare, presentations, laboratory exercises, and keeping instructional materials up to date.
* Assist in reviewing and improving curriculum to reflect current industry standards and emerging technologies.
* Ensure course delivery meets institutional and Ministry requirements.

Laboratory & Equipment Management
* Set up, operate, inspect, and maintain appliance training equipment and laboratory resources.
* Demonstrate the safe operation of tools, electrical testing equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
* Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and professional laboratory environment.
* Report equipment maintenance requirements and recommend replacement or upgrades when necessary.

Student Evaluation
* Prepare and administer quizzes, examinations, practical assessments, and laboratory evaluations.
* Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.
* Identify students requiring additional academic support and develop appropriate learning strategies to promote student success.
* Maintain accurate grading records and assessment documentation.

Mentorship
* Mentor students in developing technical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
* Guide students regarding workplace expectations, professionalism, ethics, and career opportunities within the appliance service industry.
* Encourage continuous learning and adherence to industry best practices.

Supervision
* Supervise practical laboratory sessions involving appliance servicing and repair.
* Ensure students follow all safety procedures when working with electrical systems, refrigeration components, testing equipment, and hand tools.
* Monitor practical work to ensure proper use of equipment and compliance with safety standards.

Administration
* Maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student progress records.
* Complete academic documentation in accordance with institutional policies.
* Utilize Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Microsoft Office applications as required.
* Participate in faculty meetings, curriculum reviews, instructor development, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
Required
Education
* College Diploma, Trade Certification, Certificate of Qualification, or equivalent education in Appliance Service, Refrigeration, Electrical, HVAC, or a closely related skilled trade.
Experience
* Minimum 5 years of recent industry experience installing, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing residential household appliances.
* Strong experience with electrical diagnostics, refrigeration systems, and appliance troubleshooting.
Technical Skills

Preferred Qualifications
* Previous teaching or instructional experience within a vocational institution, college, apprenticeship program, or corporate training workplace.
* Experience teaching adult learners.
* Red Seal or recognized Trade Certification (considered an asset).
* Experience supervising apprentices, junior technicians, or service personnel.
* Familiarity with Ontario Private Career College standards and Ministry requirements is considered an asset.
