VDK Group

Norwich

Lead premium door/window manufacturing's finance with hands-on expertise, strategic vision, and innovative technology.

VDK Group Inc. is a dynamic and innovative family-owned and operated company offering a complete line of beautifully crafted exterior doors, quality windows, and overhead doors, along with aluminum entrances, windows, and curtain wall solutions for the commercial sector. At VDK, we are committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional workmanship, with meticulous attention to detail to ensure complete customer satisfaction. We take pride in the longevity of our employees and the excellence we maintain across all aspects of our operations.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Finance (Controller) to lead the finance function across our group of companies. This is the top finance seat at VDK — you'll work directly with ownership and senior leadership, own the numbers end to end, and help steer the company through an exciting period of growth, including our expansion into the US market.

We're a company that builds things, and we want a finance leader who builds too. You'll shape strategy at the leadership table, but you'll also be in the work — closing the books, modelling the cash, structuring the financing, and pushing our systems forward. If you're someone who doesn't just identify what needs to happen but makes it happen, you'll thrive here.

This role is what you make of it. We care more about trajectory than tenure — if you're earlier in your career but have demonstrated exceptional ability and an appetite to grow, we want to hear from you. We'll invest in developing you in-house, and the runway here is real: this seat grows as the group grows.

What You'll Own

Financial Leadership

- Full ownership of the finance and accounting function across a multi-entity group
- Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, at both the entity and consolidated level
- Financial analysis, KPIs, and insights that drive decisions at the ownership and leadership level
- Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis that keep the business ahead of the curve

Cash & Capital

- Group-wide cash flow management and forecasting
- Banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing activities — including construction and equipment financing
- Seek, secure, and manage grant and loan opportunities from banks, lenders, and government programs, from application through to reporting and final claims

Growth & Cross-Border

- Support our growing US business: cross-border reporting, tariffs and duties, currency, and US entity operations
- Learn fast and adapt as we scale — new markets, new facilities, new challenges

Technology & Improvement

- Leverage technology to the max: our ERP (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central), automation, integrations, and modern AI tools
- Continuously improve processes across finance and operations — if a system can do it better than a spreadsheet, make it so

- Partner with our in-house software team to build reporting and workflows that give us an edge

Team & Compliance

- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team (AR, AP, Payroll)
- Ensure audit, tax, and statutory filings are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain robust internal controls and sound financial policies as we grow

What You'll Bring

- CPA designation or equivalent senior finance experience
- Progressive accounting and finance experience, including time as a Controller or senior finance leader running full-cycle operations
- A hands-on approach — you lead by example and stay close to the work
- A track record of execution: initiatives you've personally driven from idea to done
- Curiosity and speed — you learn new domains quickly and enjoy it
- High proficiency in Excel and financial systems; genuine enthusiasm for automation and technology
- Manufacturing or construction industry experience an asset
- Experience with Business Central (or similar ERP), multi-entity groups, cross-border operations, or government funding programs — all assets, none required

Compensation and Benefits

- $120,000 – $160,000 base salary, commensurate with experience, plus performance-based bonus
- Benefits plan with Life and AD&D; Insurance coverage
- Group RRSP/DPSP Matching Program
- Professional development and career advancement
- Company events and company discounts
- A collaborative and supportive team
- State-of-the-art equipment with creative software

VDK Group Inc. is committed to providing accommodations for applicants with disabilities throughout the recruitment process. If you require accommodation, please notify Human Resources.
