COMMUNITY RESOURCE WORKER 1 – AWAKE OVERNIGHT
(1 part-time, permanent position available)
About the position:
McMan's Disability Services Program is seeking to recruit a dedicated Community Resource Worker 1 (CRW 1) to provide overnight awake support to three (3) male individuals with developmental disabilities.
In this role, you will provide individualized, person-centered support that promotes independence, personal growth, and community inclusion. Working closely with the individuals in their home and community, you will assist with daily living skills, goal achievement, community participation, and overall well-being. The successful candidate will help create a safe, respectful, and empowering setting that enhances each individual's quality of life while encouraging choice, self-determination, and meaningful community connections.
As an overnight awake staff member, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, health, and well-being of the individuals supported throughout the night, responding appropriately to emergent needs, completing required documentation, and maintaining a supportive and secure home environment.
This position is ideal for someone who is caring, flexible, dependable, and passionate about supporting adults with disabilities to live as independently as possible and reach their full potential. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to providing compassionate, person-centered support.
This role is an awake overnight position.
Hours: Friday 10pm-Saturday 10am, Saturday 10pm-Sunday 10am; 24 awake hours
Location: Westhaven 2 – Edson, Alberta
What you’ll do:
· Connect with and develop helping relationships with individuals with disabilities.
· Acting as a strong advocate for individuals in the community.
· Work effectively as a team with the individual and their support team to help achieve their goals.
· Completion of daily documentation.
· Support the personal care of the individuals and support throughout the night
· Perform administrative and cleaning duties relating to the operation of the home.
· Participate in ongoing program development.
What you bring:
· Completion of a High School Diploma.
· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtain registration within three months of hire.
· Six (6) months experience working within the Human Services field.
· Equivalencies may be considered.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Security Clearance Check; including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months).
· Emergency First Aid-Level A CPR + AED.
· Valid Class 5 driver's license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance (minimum $2 million coverage) is required.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Computer/Word processing skills.
· Ability to assist with personal care.
· Knowledge of sign language is an asset, along with the ability to recognize, understand, and effectively respond to an individual's preferred communication style.
· Ability to implement approved restrictive practices.
· Desire to see individuals succeed.
