Role Description
This is a full-time Health and Safety Supervisor role located in Winnipeg, MB. The Health and Safety Supervisor will be responsible for implementing and maintaining health and safety programs, conducting safety training, ensuring compliance with regulations, and promoting a protected work environment for staff and crew with clients assigned, and supervisor the Health and Safety Advisor team.
The Health and Safety Advisor will need to travel to sites for periods of time, depending on the need of the client on an as needed basis.
This position will report directly to the President and CEO. The successful candidate should have 1 - 5 years of experience in the health and safety field and possess a proven ability to work independently or in a team setting.
Key responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Understand Site Docs Safety Management system and other on-line platforms with the ability train employees and supervisors.
- Conduct site inspections and provide meaningful corrective actions for clients
- Ensure that there is an adequate supply of safety equipment on site with different clients depending on their scope of work.
- Conduct Incident Investigations and work with client team for root cause.
- Conduct and participate in safety meetings.
- Safe work procedures creation, review, and revision.
- Hazard assessment review and give recommendation on review of hazard assessments in the field.
- Conduct orientation and training on site for employees and supervisors.
- Be accountable and always represent yourself respectfully and professionally.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with organization skills to keep reports on-site.
- Ability to work long hours for long periods of time when required.
- The successful candidate will enjoy seeing the scenic views and enjoy traveling. Longer periods of travel might be necessary. Depends on needs of client.
- Experience in a camp setting is considered an asset, but not required.
Qualifications
- Experience in Occupational Health and Safety Training
- Health & Safety, Environment certificate or diploma
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements
- Certifications in Occupational Health and Safety are a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment or indenpendantly.
- Previous experience in the construction or mining industry is beneficial
- Must have a valid drivers license
