About Salient

Salient Design & Exhibits is a Toronto-based trade show booth company handling design, fabrication, installation, storage, and logistics under one roof. We build custom and modular exhibits for clients across the pharmaceutical, medical device, and retail real estate sectors, all out of our own shop. Our workload runs in waves around show season, and we're looking to add experienced hands we can call on when things get busy.

The Role

We're looking for a skilled carpenter or fabricator who wants flexible, as-needed work. When our schedule ramps up around shows, we'll call you in to help build and finish booths alongside our shop team. This is casual, on-call work: no fixed weekly hours, but steady demand during busy periods and a solid rate for someone who can step in and be productive right away. It's a good fit for an experienced tradesperson who wants flexible hours, is between contracts, or is looking for reliable overflow work.

What You'll Do

- Build custom and modular trade show booth components from wood and sheet goods
- Apply plastic laminate (HPL) to panels and surfaces where needed
- Cut, assemble, and finish panels, crates, and structures to spec




- Operate shop tools and equipment safely and independently
- Help prep, crate, and load finished pieces for shipping and install
- Jump in where needed during busy builds and keep the shop moving

What We're Looking For (Must-Haves)

- Solid carpentry and fabrication experience, able to work independently with minimal direction
- Comfortable with laminating (HPL) and standard shop tools and equipment
- Reliable and responsive when we call, and able to commit to agreed dates once booked
- Safety-minded and able to work at a productive pace
- Own reliable transportation to our Toronto shop
- Available on a flexible, as-needed basis, especially around show season

Nice to Have

- Experience in exhibit/display, scenic, millwork, or cabinetmaking
- Forklift certification
- Experience with crating, shipping prep, or on-site install
