Primary Responsibilities
As the Transportation Clerk, you will turn requests into reality, in an environment where you’ll feel and create a culture of safety and family. You will support the transportation team in improving production processes and maintaining daily business. This includes performing administrative tasks such as; maintaining documents, directing incoming calls, providing reports, and supporting a variety of other functions to ensure that the transportation team is providing Core-Mark customers with exceptional service and quality.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Process and validate driver payroll on a daily basis to ensure accuracy and compliance with bi-weekly payroll deadlines.
- Support effective communication between drivers, dispatch, transportation management, and other operational departments to facilitate smooth day-to-day operations.
- Proactively communicate route changes, delivery delays, and service updates to customers, ensuring timely and professional resolution of inquiries.
- Enter, maintain, and audit transportation-related data within company systems to ensure data integrity and operational accuracy.
- Generate, distribute, and analyze transportation payroll, delivery performance, and compliance reports as required by management.
- Monitor and maintain JJ Keller driver qualification files, including licenses, medical certifications, training records, and other regulatory documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and transportation regulations.
- Maintain transportation records, route documentation, trip reports, and supporting administrative files in accordance with company retention requirements.
- Support transportation leadership with scheduling, administrative projects, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with onboarding activities for new drivers, including training compliance tracking.
- Ensure confidentiality and accuracy when handling employee, customer, and company information.
- Promote a safe work environment by supporting transportation safety programs and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Post secondary education in supply chain, business, or logistics is considered an asset.
- 1-2 years of work experience in logistics, transportation, or general administration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel for tracking, and data entry and analysis)
- Familiarity with logistics and transportation systems such as DCMS, Driver Pro, etc. considered an asset.
- Exceptional phone and written communication skills to handle driver inquiries, resolve routing issues, and address customer inquiries.
- Strong time management and multi-tasking abilities to handle fast-paced environments and shifting priorities.
- Exposure to a variety of environmental conditions: weather, temperature, lighting, and noise as determined by circumstances at accounts within assigned territory.
