About the OpportunityWe are seeking an experiencedProject Accounting Advisor II (Capital Assets)to join a dynamic accounting team supporting large-scale capital projects and fixed asset accounting activities. This role is ideal for a hands‑on accounting professional who understands the complete capitalization lifecycle, from project setup and cost tracking through capitalization, unitization, depreciation, and reporting. Working closely with Capital Management, Fixed Assets, Financial Reporting, FP&A, Regulatory, and Tax teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of capital asset accounting, financial reporting, audit support, and continuous process improvement initiatives.This is a highly visible role that also provides coaching and guidance to junior team members.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport monthly and quarterly close activities related to capital projects and capital assetsPrepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, cost transfers, and supporting schedulesManage project accounting activities, including project setup, cost tracking, capitalization readiness, and project closeoutAnalyze and resolve complex accounting issues, transaction discrepancies, and balance variancesPrepare recurring and ad hoc capital asset and project accounting reportsSupport AFUDC/IDC calculations and related accounting processesAssist with project cost allocations and transfersSupport internal and external audits, SOX compliance, controls testing, and process walkthroughsDevelop and maintain accounting process documentation and proceduresParticipate in balance sheet cleanup, CWIP cleanup, and remediation initiativesIdentify opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and strengthened controlsProvide technical guidance and coaching to junior accounting team membersCollaborate with stakeholders across Accounting, Capital Management, FP&A, Regulatory, Tax, and Financial ReportingRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance,
or a related discipline5+ years of progressive accounting experienceStrong knowledge of accounting principles and month-end close processesExperience in one or more of:Project AccountingCapital AccountingFixed Asset AccountingConstruction AccountingAdvanced Excel skillsExperience with large ERP systems such as SAP or OracleStrong analytical, problem-solving, and reconciliation skillsExcellent communication and stakeholder management abilitiesAbility to independently investigate accounting issues and recommend solutionsProven ability to manage multiple priorities in a quick‑paced environmentPreferred QualificationsCPA designation or CPA candidateUtility industry experienceExperience with capital project accounting and CWIP accountingKnowledge of capital accruals, project cost transfers, AFUDC/IDC, and capital reportingExperience supporting audits, SOX controls, and internal control documentationExperience leading or contributing to process improvement initiativesPrevious coaching, mentoring, or review responsibilitiesHighly Desired ExperienceCandidates will stand out if they have experience with:Fixed Asset AccountingIn‑Service and Capitalization ProcessesAsset Retirement AccountingCWIP Analysis and CleanupAsset Transfers and Asset Master Data ManagementFixed Asset Cleanup and Balance Remediation ProjectsRegulated Utility Accounting EnvironmentsUse AI for HiringOur recruitment process for this role includes the use of AI‑based tools to help evaluate candidate qualifications and screen applications.Why Kelly?At Kelly, we’re committed to finding rewarding opportunities that help you thrive—both professionally and personally.
