We're looking for a Lead Information Security Engineer to be part of making that happen.ABOUT THE ROLEThe Lead Information Security Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating security capabilities that protect Arctic Wolf's internal environment. This role focuses on building and integrating security systems, combining off-the-shelf technologies with custom automation to deliver scalable, reliable, and measurable security outcomes.This is a hands-on engineering role that requires strong systems thinking across operating systems, cloud platforms, identity, and networked environments. The engineer will partner closely with Security Architecture and Engineering teams to translate strategy into practical, well-integrated solutions.The role emphasizes depth in understanding how systems work, combined with the ability to extend and automate security controls through scripting and lightweight engineering.ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement security solutionsTranslate architectural patterns into real-world implementations across endpoint, cloud, identity, and network environmentsDefine technical approaches for deploying and integrating security controlsBuild and extend security systemsBuild and configure security technologies (e.G., IAM, endpoint, SASE, vulnerability management)Develop automation and integrations using scripting and APIs to close functional gaps and improve scaleExtend vendor platforms (e.G., Okta, Wiz, Prisma, etc.) to meet internal control requirementsDrive system integration and platform maturityImprove interoperability between tools to create cohesive security capabilitiesReduce manual processes through automation and reusable engineering patternsContribute to a platform-oriented approach to security capabilities (vs. siloed tools)Operate and continuously improve capabilitiesOwn services across their lifecycle:build, operate, optimize, retireMonitor health, performance, and coverage of implemented controlsIdentify gaps and drive iterative improvements aligned to risk reductionPartner across engineering and IT teamsWork closely with IT, infrastructure, and application teams to embed security into systems and workflowsProvide technical guidance on secure implementation patternsEnsure solutions balance security, usability, and operational efficiencyContribute to technology selection and evaluationProvide input into tool selection based on system fit, integration capability, and scalabilityEvaluate vendor solutions and validate alignment with internal architectureAbout YouSystems and Engineering FundamentalsStrong understanding of operating systems (Linux/macOS/Windows),



including system services, process behavior, and configuration managementSolid knowledge of networking fundamentals (TLS, routing, segmentation, identity-aware access)Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and cloud-native architecturesAutomation and IntegrationExperience with scripting and automation (e.G., Python, Bash) to integrate systems and automate workflowsWorking knowledge of APIs, authentication flows, and system integrationsAbility to troubleshoot and debug issues across interconnected systemsSecurity DomainsWorking knowledge of security technologies and domains such as:Identity and Access Management (IAM)Endpoint security and device postureVulnerability managementSASE / Zero Trust accessData protection and SaaS securityKey CompetenciesSystems Thinking – Understands how components interact across environments and designs solutions accordinglyEngineering Mindset – Focuses on automation, repeatability, and reducing operational toilProblem Solving – Diagnoses complex issues across systems and identifies practical solutionsOwnership Mentality – Takes responsibility for outcomes across the full lifecycle of servicesCollaboration – Works effectively across security, IT, and engineering teamsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)~5+ years of experience in security engineering, systems engineering, or infrastructure engineeringExperience deploying and operating security technologies (e.G., IAM, EDR, network security, cloud security tools)Hands-on experience with Linux system administrationExperience with scripting/automation to support system integration and operational efficiencyStrong understanding of networking and system architecture fundamentalsPreferred QualificationsExperience integrating enterprise platforms such as Okta, cloud security tools, or SASE solutionsFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code (e.G., Terraform)Experience working in cloud-first or SaaS environmentsExposure to Zero Trust or identity-centric security modelsOn-Camera PolicyTo support a fair, transparent, and engaging interview experience, candidates interviewing remotely are expected to be on camera during all video interviews. This range reflects the base pay the company reasonably expects to offer for this position, aligned to the broader job family base pay structure.
