We strive to create safe, healthy, and inclusive communities for all.ROLE PURPOSEThis position will provide assistive outreach support to client(s) referred to Connective by our funders to enable their adjustment to, and success with life in the community.STATUS AND CLASSIFICATIONUnionized. This position is open to applicants of all genders.HOURSWe have shifts available 7 days per week.Shift Hours:Morning :0800 - 16000830 - 1630Evening :1600 - 00001630 - 0030Overnight :0000 - 08000030 - 0830Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month, of which sevenare overnight shifts.If you are working full-time, or if you are a full-time student, we ask you for 15 shifts of availability per month of which five are overnight shifts (this is subject to employer or enrollment proof).These positions require the ability to work flexible schedule during the daytime, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs.During the first interview the Recruiter will discuss and note which shifts candidates are open to working.WHAT WE OFFER?Committed Living Wage Employer2022, 2023 and 2025 Canadian Nonprofit Employer of Choice Award from NEOC2023 High-Performance Culture Award from Supporting LinesCompetitive benefits package, including health, wellness, and pension planCareer and personal development, with the ability to grow in a diverse range of programs and departmentsAccess to a range of staff mental health supports, including an in-house counsellor, Employee Family Assistance Program, and Critical Incidents Stress ManagementAccess to On-Demand Pay to withdraw earned wages before paydayConnective is part of a portability program where employees moving from a CSSEA-member employer to Connective will port their service hours for vacation and wage purposes (within last 12 months)REPORTING AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPSReports and is accountable to the Program Manager or their designateParticipates as a member of Connective team to ensure quality and continuity of services to clientsLiaises with staff and volunteers of community and government agencies as requiredLiaises with Connective staff as necessaryAccepts clinical direction from the care teamParticipates as a member of Connective staff teamKEY ACCOUNTABILITIESReceives referrals from fundersWorks with the client, researches background material, and seeks the input of other professionals and family members, to provide the assessment that will ascertain needs and postulate intervention possibilitiesWorks with the client to consider issues and creates a mutually agreed intervention and support plan that has measurable short and long-term goalsEnsures issues of daily living, including but not limited to housing, nutrition, clothing, hygiene, leisure lifestyle and access, employment, and education are addressed in this planEnsures the client’s ongoing legal, mental, and physical health issues are addressed in the planWhen and as needed, provides a wide range of interventions to enable the client to address and accomplish the established goalsInteracts with other professionals, family members, and organizations to ensure services, admissions, and treatments are in the client’s interest and supportive of the long-term goalsOn the client’s behalf, is a resource to other professionals, including but not limited to the courts, probation services, and community and institutional psychiatric servicesMaintains extensive records and case notes in accord with Community Living British Columbia policies and standardsCompletes monthly progress reportsParticipates in staff and resident/staff meetings as instructed by the Program ManagerOther duties as subsequently negotiatedWORKING CONDITIONSFunctions independently, while remaining a crucial member of the care teamAdheres to Connective policies and proceduresIs available to work flexible hours as needed, which may include some evenings/weekends, as determined by program/client needs and schedulesIs a member of CUPE Local 1936-11Receives benefits and works within the working conditions as outlined in the collective agreement and personnel manualEXPERIENCE AND SKILLSGraduate with a Diploma or Certificate in Social Services or a relevant field with one year of related experienceCounselling experience in the appropriate field and demonstrate a clear ability to respond well in crisis situationsExperience in overdose response,
relevant work experience with lower-barrier clients, and a strong understanding of harm reduction.Experience with clients with a history of conflict with the law, developmental disabilities and/or spectrum disorders, interaction with social agencies and experiencing psychiatric/personality disordersUnderstanding of providing service to people with different learning abilitiesExtensive knowledge of community services in Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley as they relate to persons with psychiatric involvementExperience in assessment, case/care plan development and implementationDemonstrated an ability to deal with potential violenceDemonstrated an ability to develop programs tailored to the particular diverse needs of the individualExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishREQUIREMENTSAbility to successfully complete a Vulnerable Persons Criminal Record CheckAbility to successfully pass a reference checkProof of vaccination for communicable diseases may be required as mandated by Government, Health Authority, and/or funder requirementsExperience in overdose response, relevant work experience with lower-barrier clients, and a strong understanding of harm reductionCOMPENSATIONAs Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $27.53 and will increase every 2000 hours worked up to a maximum of $31.57 plus 10.6% in lieu of vacation pay and statutory.Important: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.INCLUSIONAt Connective, we value and accommodate unique differences to ensure that our staff have the opportunity and are supported to thrive.
