Based in Medicine Hat/Brooks, Alberta and reporting to the Badlands Pipe Team Manager, this position supports the Canadian Natural Gas Pipelines business and requires application of mechanical and technical skills to keep our natural gas compressor stations, measurement stations, and pipeline sites running smoothly. As a Pipeline Technician, this position acts as the primary isolation coordinator as well as operates, maintains, tests, and inspects our natural gas pipeline, valves & operators and associated pipeline building assemblies in a manner which meets operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. This position is eligible for our domestic relocation program.The regular work schedule will be: Week 1 – Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is an 8-hour dayWeek 2 – Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is a Regular DayOff (RDO)What you’ll doPerform inspections, troubleshooting and repair on equipment such as actuators, valves, stem seals, and other related componentsCapable of performing the role effectively while accommodating the substantial travel and time-on-the-road commitments it requiresPlan and lead pipeline isolation, blowdowns and other gas handling activities including installation and operation of air movers/expellersConduct pipeline purging, loading and bleed ins to pressurize pipelines, and complete return to service activitiesProvide support as necessary to the operation of transfer compressor for pipeline pull downsAssist in gas leak surveys as reported by aerial patrols if requested by the areaPerform and assist with various tasks associated with in-line inspection programsComplete preventative and corrective maintenance PMs/CMs as required and close out work ordersComplete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new notifications, etc.



in SAPOperate and maintain natural gas pipelines and associated equipmentRead and interpret alignment sheets and relevant facility drawingsLead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low complexity projects to include the coordination and monitoring of contractor work activities or third-party active controlProvide coaching, mentoring and training to other personnelComplete basic “as built” prints and update related documentation with respect pipeline related schematics (red line drawings)Identify encroachment issues, report and manage unauthorized activitiesComplete LDAR repairs, planned and corrective maintenance as requiredEnsure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy's safety, health, setting and risk standardsOperate various types of equipment- ATV’s, air compressors, generators, light towersPerform tasks from other disciplinesMinimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GEDJourneyman certification in a trade or two years of post-secondary training5 years relevant related industry experiencePreferred Qualifications5-10 years relevant work experience related to PipelinesExperience with valve operation, inspection, maintenance and repairExperience operating and maintaining high pressure natural gas pipelines and/or facilitiesComputerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and/or SAP experienceExcellent work safety record and a safe work attitudeThis position requires candidates to:Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for reviewSuccessfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testingTravel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training will be required (estimated up to 70% of work schedule)Work extended hours (estimated up to 30% of work schedule)Be part of an on-call rotation and provide emergency support as requiredBe subject to working conditions which include adverse weather and temperaturesDriving a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position.Following a conditional offer of employment, the Company will check the motor vehicle records of any job applicant when driving is an essential job function.About our businessWe are a leader in North American energy infrastructure, spanning Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.
