What You’ll Do
- Drive a well‑maintained vehicle while professionally representing Messer to customers
- Make multiple deliveries of gas products and hardgoods to local customers within the assigned geographical area (including loading and unloading cylinders for 5‑ or 10‑ton trucks)
- Balance cylinder load sheets and maintain daily cylinder records
- Use handheld technology to process deliveries and reconcile agent consignments
- Comply with all government regulations and company safety policies
- Maintain vehicles per company policy, observe safety requirements,
wear required safety equipment, and report safety hazards to a supervisor
Role
- Act as a hybrid Inside Sales Representative, supporting customers in person and over the phone
- Welcome customers and advise them on store services, including order preparation and follow‑up
- Provide administrative and technical support to internal clients
- Source products, maintain inventory levels, and use creative customer‑service techniques
- Engage external customers to increase counter sales through upselling
- Assist the Branch Manager in achieving Key Performance Indicators, safety goals, and operating profit targets
- Pre‑call customer orders and enter invoices into SAP, prepare credit notes, sort documents, file, and process telephone orders
- Solicit new sales in store and via outgoing calls, maximizing counter sales and handling telephone enquiries
- Receive incoming hardgoods shipments from vendors and intercompany warehouses
What It Takes
- Valid Class 3 or DZ licence with air brakes
- Minimum of one year of driving experience with recognised driving‑school training, or three years of driving experience
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent experience
- A clean driving abstract, available for submission when requested
- Ability to lift goods up to 60 lbs
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office suite
- Industrial sales skills
Assets To Have
- Knowledge of the gas and/or welding industry
- Experience using handheld electronic devices
- WHMIS/TDG certification
