The Controller will be responsible for the internal financial reporting and management of supporting accounting staff.Key Responsibilities IncludeSupervise the activities of the senior accounting team membersEnsure accuracy and timeliness of complex revenue entriesEnsure that all entries are made by following accounting standards (ASPE)



and various Ministry of Health financial policiesPrepare monthly financial reporting for 3 business divisions and year-end financial reportingMaintain oversight on Capex-like expenditures against budgetHelp prepare/review bad debt calculations and ensure bad debt collection procedures are followedAssist managers and site staff with various reporting needsSafeguard the integrity and completeness of the financial data in our healthcare resident portalReview and approve current vendors and new employees in YardiReview A/P payments, payroll and other routine dutiesPrepare monthly accruals and true-up entriesAssist with year-end auditsEngage with CFO when accounting abnormalities or variances ariseOther relevant duties as requiredQualificationsProven work experience as a Controller or another senior accounting role with several direct reports10+ years of overall accounting experience including 5+ years of supervisory responsibilityAccounting degreeCPA designation is not required but strongly preferredThorough knowledge of accounting principles and proceduresAdvanced knowledge of financial accounting software (Yardi preferred) and Microsoft Office SuiteKnowledge of real estate accounting would be an assetExperience and ability to lead and mentor othersExcellent interpersonal skills and a team playerAbility to see the big picture while maintaining high accuracyAbility to meet and establish deadlines by focusing on the process necessary to produce deliverablesAdditional InformationWhile our Applicant Tracking System uses some AI-enhanced tools, every decision throughout screening, assessing, and selecting candidates is made by real people on our team.
