Schedule may change with two weeks’ noticeProbationary/qualifying period will be 488 hours with mid and end point reviewsSalary: $26.72 - 28.48 depending upon applicants' length of seniority (as per the Collective Agreement)Job SummaryThe Janitor Maintenance Worker reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission and philosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society, including following Lookout’s Code of Ethics. Janitor/Maintenance Workers ensure the cleanliness of the overall site, both inside and outside. The worker will also ensure that building functions such as mechanical, plumbing, and electrical are properly maintained. Ongoing maintenance and janitorial work is required on premises.This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use,
employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face.Job DutiesJanitorial work such as sweeping, washing, and waxing floors; cleaning and disinfecting all surfacesGarbage removal and emptying recycling containersMonitor and upkeep all building equipmentMaintain repairs on premises including the upkeep of suites by fixing, repairing, plumbing, landscaping, etc.Will assist recent staff and oversee volunteers; and work with staff to ensure facilities meet the needs of guestsWork is generally completed internally, while some external work on the premise may occurJob duties may have a few disagreeable factorsEmployees are expected to remain alert and attentive during working hours. Sleeping during shifts is not permittedResponsible for complying with and contributing to all aspects of health and safety programQualifications & CompetenceMinimum Grade 12 education, plus two (2) years of recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experienceBuilding Service Worker Diploma is an assetMust have current Occupational First Aid Level 1 CertificateCrisis Intervention Skills Training is an assetAbility to work independently or in a team settingStrong ability to manage stress and organize workloadExcellent communication, writing, documentation, and organization skillsUnderstands and maintains clientele/worker boundariesAbility to work with disadvantaged and challenging adults in a diverse environmentStrong physical and mental ability to perform work tasks and operate job related equipmentA minimum of two (2) years sobriety if related concerns to alcohol and/or drug useCriminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable SectorClosing DateApplications will be accepted until August 11, 2026 at 5:00 pm#J-18808-Ljbffr
