Position Overview: J -A – Psychologist (Bilingual). Contract with Statistics Canada, 3‑year term with potential extension. Part‑time role available in addition to current responsibilities.
Location & Working Hours
- The Contractor must be located in the National Capital Region (NCR).
- All assessments must take place at the psychologist’s clinic.
- Core working hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (exceptions may apply for evenings or Saturdays under special circumstances).
Security Clearance
Reliability clearance is required.
Assessment Scope
- Approximately 10 assessments per year.
- Assessments are conducted for employees as part of the agency’s language training initiative.
Qualifications
- Must be a licensed Psychologist (unrestricted licence in valuable standing with the provincial or territorial regulatory body).
- Graduate with a Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Psychology. For degrees outside Canada, a recognized equivalency assessment is required.
Experience
- Minimum of 1 full‑time equivalent year of autonomous practice experience in the last 5 years providing patient care.
Responsibilities
- Obtain signed consent from both the employee and self for each assessment.
- Schedule appointments within 30 to 60 calendar days of service request, ensuring alignment with core hours.
- Conduct initial clinical interview, testing, and any additional required sessions.
- Deliver a comprehensive feedback meeting and report within the agreed timeframe.
- Maintain communication with the Project Authority regarding scheduling and reporting.
Deliverables
- Final assessment report that includes:
- Diagnosis or confirmation of any learning disability.
- Detailed profile of strengths, weaknesses, and functional impact on second‑language learning.
- Observations on work methods, fatigue, mood, language skills, and any motor/perceptual factors.
- Practical, actionable recommendations for language training accommodations, strategies, tools, or adaptations.
