Lead, Senior and Intermediate - Backend EngineerAbout the RoleWe're looking for a Lead Backend Engineer with deep fintech experience to join our core engineering team. You'll be responsible for building and scaling the critical payment infrastructure, ledger systems, and financial APIs that power our platform. This is a backend-focused role where you'll work on high-stakes financial systems processing millions of dollars in transactions daily. You'll work closely with our CTO and engineering team to architect reliable, compliant, and scalable financial systems that our users depend on for their most significant payments.In this role, you'll:Build and scale backend services using NestJS and TypeScript on Google Cloud PlatformDesign and maintain robust ledger systems and financial data models using Google Cloud SQL and PostgreSQLArchitect and optimize payment processing pipelines handling large transaction volumesIntegrate with financial APIs, payment processors, and banking systems while ensuring PCI complianceBuild resilient microservices with PubSub for event-driven architectureManage infrastructure as code using Terraform and GCP servicesOwn critical financial systems end-to-end, from design to production monitoringCollaborate with product and compliance teams to ship secure, compliant financial featuresYou're someone who:Has 7+ years of backend engineering experience,



with 2+ years in fintech or paymentsIs expert-level with NestJS/Node.Js and TypeScript for building production APIsHas hands-on experience with ledger systems, double-entry bookkeeping, or financial data modelingHas scaled backend systems handling high transaction volumes (millions of transactions/month)Is proficient with PostgreSQL, database optimization, and Google Cloud PlatformHas experience with payment processing, financial APIs, and regulatory compliance (PCI, SOC 2, etc.)Brings strong ownership to critical systems and thrives in a high-stakes fintech environmentCommunicates clearly about complex technical and financial conceptsRequired experience:Fintech/payments industry experience with large-scale transaction processingLedger systems or accounting system developmentFinancial API integrations (payment processors, banks, card networks)Database design for financial systems and audit trailsGCP services (Cloud SQL, PubSub, Cloud Run, etc.)Nice-to-haves:Experience with Terraform for infrastructure managementPCI DSS compliance and security framework experienceReal-time payment systems or instant settlement experiencePrevious experience at high-growth fintech companiesOpen banking or financial data aggregation experience #J-18808-Ljbffr
