Speech-language pathologists diagnose, assess, and treat human communication disorders, including speech, fluency, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. They are committed to improving patient health and well-being in a multidisciplinary workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and evaluate speech, voice, resonance, language, fluency, cognitive-linguistic, and swallowing disorders through tests, examinations, and observations.
- Develop and implement remedial programs to correct various disorders.
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams to establish personalized care plans.
- Educate and counsel patients and their families on communication and swallowing disorders.
- Conduct research on communication disorders and diagnostic procedures.
- Supervise and instruct communicative disorders assistants, students, and other healthcare personnel.
Qualifications:
- Certified by the College of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of Ontario (CASLPO) and in good standing.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to ongoing medical education.
- Proficient in managing diverse health issues across all age groups.
