THE OPPORTUNITY

This position is responsible for leadership, planning and supervision of the daily operation of both the long-range and current planning function. This includes intermunicipal planning, policies development, and large projects, while supporting Long Range Planners, Development Planners, and the Planning Technician. This position reports to the Director of Planning and Development.
This is a full-time, permanent position.
Salary: $118,736.80 - $141,122.80 annually

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and Policy Development

• Oversee the City’s long-range land use planning including statutory plan and policy development related to development and growth of the city in accordance with legislative requirements and City bylaws.


• Oversee development, updates and monitoring of Municipal Development Plan and higher order plans.


• Oversee the development, update and regular review of planning and development policies and bylaws.


• Oversee the preparation and presentation of Requests for Decision (RFD) and other reports to Corporate Leadership Team, Council and Governance and Policy Committee, and other groups as required.


• Identify and remain current with new trends, upcoming topics and initiatives in planning and development.


• Oversee or undertake future projections or research papers on upcoming trends, topics and initiatives in anticipation of recent or updated planning and development processes and policies.


• Oversee and conduct research and prepare statistical reports on land use, physical, social and economic issues.
