Join our dynamic team of 700 dedicated staff and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of laboratory medicine.The Pathologists' Assistant is assigned to both the Division of surgical pathology and to the Division of Autopsy Pathology. The pathologists' assistant reports to the departmental manager for operational tasks, and the medical directors of service for the delegated tasks in surgical pathology and autopsy.DutiesDescribes and dictates the findings of specimens during grossing proceduresPhotographs specimensUtilize a working knowledgeof medical-legal policies and protocols for specimen handling, autopsy, and patient privacyParticipates in quality management activities and adheres to established safe practice to promote a safe working environment for allQualificationsBachelor of Science (BSc) or MLT with advanced level courses in anatomy and physiologyExperience in surgical pathology specimen gross requiredgraduate of a NAACLS PA training program preferredCurrent CCCPA and/or ASCP certification or ability to become certified requiredKnowledge of anatomy and physiology with special emphasis on the anatomical presentation of diseaseStrong observational skills and exceptional attention to detailAbility to work effectively in a multi-functional group that includes medical personnel, other pathology assistants, MLTs, lab assistants and clerical staffworking knowledge of standard safety precautions and good lab hygieneWorking knowledge of protected chemical handling,
