Your Role

As a Specification Writer at BBB Architects, you will join our firm for a full-time, chance at our Toronto office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Preparing technical documents (specifications and other contract documents) for a wide range of complex building project types (sports and entertainment venues/arenas)
- Interpreting architectural, related engineering and other contract documents (drawings, specifications, reports) and information particular to project specifications
- Overseeing the preparation of specifications with the Project Directors, Architects, Engineers and Designers
- Providing quality control review of contract documents prepared by internal and external source specifications
- Educating staff on issues related to specifications, keynoting, technical material information, and assisting with educational bulletins about new product materials and new technology for staff members




- Assisting in the ongoing development of BBB's master specifications
- Technical research of new building/product technology methods and materials
- Acting as a resource for technical questions, technical detail review, submittal review and material and product selections
- Maintaining technical documents (codes, standards, technical literature) and information databases
- Collaborate with the BIM committee for strategies of integrating relevant specs information into the production workflow

Qualifications & Experience:

- 5+ years of dedicated specification writing for various North American building types
- Bachelors degree in Architecture, or Diploma in Architectural Technology
- Specification writer certifications e.g. RSW, CSC, CCS, CSI
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
- Proficient computer skills with an emphasis on Word, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat, FTP programs and SharePoint
- Extensive knowledge of building codes, industry standards, structures and materials standards
- Sports and recreation experience is an asset
- Knowledge of keynote manager workflow
- Soft skills: agile with the workflow, clear and concise communication with staff
