The Source Staffing is supporting a leading Canadiandefence technology organization in hiring an Intermediate Software Developer/ Engineer to join a mission-critical program supporting the Departmentof National Defence (DND) .

This role is ideal for Secret cleared developersin the Ottawa region who are looking to apply their skills to operationallyrelevant systems used by the Canadian Armed Forces, specifically LC4ISR .You’ll be contributing directly to tactical command-and-control capabilities ina highly collaborative, Agile delivery workplace.

The Role

You will contribute to the design, development, andintegration of tactical software applications , ensuring they meet theperformance, reliability, and security requirements expected in defenceenvironments.

This is a hands-on development role with exposure tosystem-level thinking, integration challenges, and real-world deploymentconsiderations.

Key Responsibilities

- Design,develop, and enhance software systems within an LC4ISR framework

- Supportsystem integration, verification, and validation activities

- Analyzeand resolve system-level issues, including performance andinteroperability challenges

- Collaboratewith internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure system reliabilityand maintainability





- Conducttechnical investigations into third-party software and integrations

- Reviewand contribute to technical documentation (interfaces, components,specifications)

- Supportintegration testing and evaluation activities in controlled environments

- Contributewithin a SAFe Agile delivery model

Requirements

Required Qualifications

Must-Have

- Active SECRET security clearance (mandatory – must be valid and transferable)

- Minimum 5 years of software development experience

- Strongproficiency in Java

- Experienceworking in secure or regulated environments (defence, publicsector, or similar)

- Solidunderstanding of software architecture, integration, and debugging

Assets

- Experiencewith Kotlin and/or Android development

- Workingknowledge of C#

- Familiaritywith MVVM architecture

- Front-endexperience with Vue.js or similar frameworks

- Exposureto SQLite, Liquibase , or similar data tools

- Exposureto NATO standards or STANAG 4586

- Previouswork on command-and-control (C2) systems or defence-relatedplatforms

Education

- Degreein Computer Science, Engineering, IT , or related field

- Equivalenthands-on experience in defence or secure environments will be considered

- Experiencewith automation, monitoring, and secure development practices
