DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Caring for unconscious patients in a sterile environment.
- Maintaining specialized instruments.
- Using the nursing process to provide patient care.
- Participating as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team.
- Maintaining nursing records (electronic and manual).
- Performing other related duties as assigned in the scrub and circulating role within many specialized services in the Operating Room.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing).
- Current BCLS.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Significant recent experience in the Operating Room and completion of Certified Operating Post Graduate Course.
- Proven organizational, interpersonal, problem‑solving and teaching skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete assignments in a reasonable time frame.
- Proven ability to perform appropriately in emergency situations.
- Proven ability to lift,
turn and transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids.
- Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership/supervisory role.
- Proven knowledge of care and maintenance of specialized OR equipment.
- Preferred: CNA Perioperative Nursing Certification.
- Preferred: Knowledge of invasive monitoring.
- Preferred: Evidence of ongoing education.
- Preferred: B.Sc.N.
- Must have a satisfactory performance record.
